2026 CFP and Bowl Games Thread

Time to have a space for this. I will start this off with the Myrtle Beach Bowl where perennial Bottom 10 team Kennesaw State finally had a decent season and got to go bowling. They are getting crushed in their game, but it’s nice ce to see them not in the Bottom 10 for a season.

Glad to see this thread. I am compelled to repost something I put in another thread.

The quarterback for Louisiana is named Lunch Winfield.

He is now my favorite college QB (aside from Devin or Bird, of course)

This may not be an original thought, but it certainly seems to me that the bowl games outside the CFP are now the NIT of college football.

Good ol’days of NIT when it meant something or the current “it’s still played?” version?

My gut is, the latter.

For me, third tier bowl games are often a way to find out that certain programs are FBS and/or that they exist. I see you, Kennesaw State.

(Also not an original thought.) They’re just on opportunity for additional practice time and developing next year’s roster (particularly when the better starters opt out of playing.)

Given the roster gutting a lot of these teams experience going into the bowl games, most of these teams couldn’t beat most of the final four in the FCS tournament.

I guess at least some teams are getting to bowl games for the first time ever.

These bowls are barely higher in quality than a spring game.

Bama getting taken to the woodshed by OU.

Thoughts and prayers.

This first playoff game isn’t much better so far (yawn)

Well damn. I was hoping both teams could lose. But hoping for a Bama loss more.

The boola-boola song is struggling to deliver for OU tonight.

Thanks for your prayers. Now they got back in it and I’m gonna have to watch Bama fans badly burn in the visitor section from my Rose Bowl suite. Lol

Yeah, crazy game. That looked for all the world like it was in the way to an OK blowout…and everything switched on a dime and the Sooners completely imploded.

Well, I guess the good news is that an SEC team lost.

All time screw-the-pooch performance by OU’s kicker and punter. PTSD bad.

They should get in the car and banish themselves to… well… maybe the Oklahoma panhandle?

I wonder if delusional BYU fans still think they could beat Bama.

I know this won’t happen, but it would be interesting to have some arrangement where the next 12 out of CFP are placed in different bowls, not necessarily 13 vs 24, but quality matchups. For example: ND vs BYU, Vandy vs USC, Texas vs Utah, Arizona vs Michigan, UVa vs Houston, GaTech vs Iowa.

Power matching the NYE/NYD Bowl games might be a little more entertaining than what we are seeing now. I don’t know how one gets around the conference auto bids, but I am sure if there is a will, ESPN will find a way.

The A&M-Miami game sure is scintillating.
