2026 CFP and Bowl Games Thread

I remember about a dozen years ago, at the end of a Boise State vs Oregon game, when teams were meeting at mid-field, a Bronco player had a rather nasty sneer on his face (could pretty much assume he wasn’t sincerely saying nice game), and a Duck player clobbered him in that smiling face.

Duck player got a rather long suspension (couple of months) while nothing really happened to the Bronco player.

If that’s what happened, then the IU player is a certified, grade-A a$$hole.

But I still don’t think you swing at him. What does that actually accomplish, other than making you and your team look bad?

The develop players and supplement through the portal is only possible if you have the money to retain the players you develop. Utah developed over two or more years Leaea, Vakalahi, Snowden, Johnson and Daley but apparently did not have the money to retain them. Utah is counting on portal acquisitions that are mostly unproven not only to replace the guys lost to the portal but also those who exhausted their eligibility. Other schools with more money were able to retain the starters they developed and add proven products through the portal to replace the guys who exhausted their eligibility.

This year’s portal losses may be an outlier due to KW and other coaches leaving for Michigan, but it is concerning to me that Snowden, Johnson, Leaea and Vakalahi were all coached by coaches who didn’t leave the U.

Just saw this ESPN alert.

Didn’t the transfer portal already close? Or do teams in the CFP get additional time?

That’s the video I posted.

It might but I can’t blame someone in the grieving process letting out frustration at someone sullying their name.

Yeah, players get a special five-day transfer portal window after the National Championship game ends. I think it’s a bad idea and hurts teams who succeed.

I know not a ton of people on here are soccer fans, but this reminds me of the 2006 World Cup when France star Zinedine Zidane head-butted an Italy player in the championship match. Zidane was ejected, which was a significant factor in France’s ultimate loss. Turns out, Zidane did this because the Italian player said something offensive about Zidane’s sister.

Materazzi essentially told Zidane his sister was a terrorist whore.

Was astonished when I watched it,. Zidane was huge international star and was equivalent to Michael Jordan slugging someone and getting tossed in the NBA Finals.

I think Ted Lasso did it best:

Never start a fight with a team that lifts and trains to this song:

Memphis Forever!
