2025-2026 Men's Basketball

in the last minutes of the game at one point TCU went 11 for 11 from the field. Fortunately TCU’s game is primarily inside and only one of those made 11 shots was a three. It was pretty incredible that Utah won with the Horned Frogs shooting so well during that stretch.

I’m impressed with Alex. He seems to be getting the most out of this team. In hindsight, it sure looks like we made a mistake not hiring him after Krysko.

Yes, it does.

How Harlan managed this the first time around with Alex was shameful.

Do you know better than Alex Jensen why he didn’t remain a candidate in 2021? He didn’t give the reason you’re implying. Also, at the time Harlan hired Craig Smith it was widely praised as a home run hire, by John Wilmer, among others.

On this K-State ballgame they showed some footage of the first meeting SLC in 1972.

Ticky Burden, Sojourner and the gang.

Let’s just say Harlan f’d up. That’s what my sewing circle says and I’m sticking to it.

In spite of the program’s travels in the desert over the last 20 or so years it is still 43rd in overall victories in D1. Sadly the program is 300 games behind K-State (really?) for 42nd place.

Here’s the format, and the top 3 are not really surprising, I’m not sure of the sources. I didn’t dig that far, just swiped from r/CollegeBasketball.

I don’t know better than Alex, I know what Alex experienced and why he withdrew.

And Jon Wilner may have thought it was a home run hire, but he was among a minority and more importantly, very wrong.

Wilner has a history of being incorrect on many things. He was a pretty big rah rah guy for the PAC12, kept saying right up to U$C leaving that it’d stay together, iirc. Now he’s a rah rah guy for the Big XII. He’s entertaining at times, but take what he writes like you would Greg Wrubell or Dick Harmon.

I looked this up some 10-15 years ago and the Utes were top 15. We have really fallen behind.

Good effort last night. Wildcats came out blazing from the 3-pt line and Utah potentially could have wilted and lost by a few dozen, but stayed in it until the end.

Utah is 16th all time in wins in NCAA Division I men’s college* basketball (right behind the weirdos down south). Here’s the Wikipedia page:

I think what CCU was looking at is some system of tabulating all time AP rankings for teams on a points system.

    • I use the word “college” now only because of history. Any wins these days are professional wins.

I was just pulling something over from reddit that caught my eye, and seemed relevant to the Men’s BBall discussion. The wikipedia page looks better for us, at least for now. Still being behind THEM is unpleasant. Hopefully in the near-ish future the program improves by leaps and bouds.

Thanks for the clarification. Still up there nice and high

It was. It is interesting to look at it either way, historically in wins we are high, but that is not registering in polls, to which I don’t think we are that surprised.

Nice of the Big XII schedule makers to give Utah two road games this week while BYU gets a single game at home on Saturday.

Let’s get a hoops escape as best as we can. Bad start. Just can’t make an FG, but haven’t defended awful.

Not doing so badly 12 minutes in. Things could change big time in a hurry (probably will), but I love what Jensen is doing with the team.

Leading 24-23 at the 8 minute TO. We went red hot the last few minutes.

There seems to me that there is decent improvement with many players through the course of the year. Sanders, Okonkwo (sp?), and Abbey are holding their own.
