UWBB 2025 recruiting class has a 5-star (our first?), a 4-star, and a 3-star (I think).
Iâd like to know if she wanted to get out of the college pay-for-play racket?
My completely uninformed guess is she wanted to coach at the highest level of WBB outside the Olympics.
Roberts said today none of the upheaval and change in college basketball played a role in her leaving.
Iâm curious if her contract had a buyout and if the U made the Sparks pay.
I certainly hope they did, especially given the circumstances
Also, anyone else find it odd we havenât heard from Gavin Peterson yet?
Nice find, Justa.
To Diehardâs point, why is there such dismal coverage of Gavin Petersenâs ascension in the local media?
I might need to start getting more news from Hawaiâi.
The articles all have the PR written statements.
The U has yet to make him available to the media. Which seems odd.
You guys are making me worry that something behind the scenes is happening that caused all this.
I donât think thatâs the case.
I just am surprised theyâve kept the PR quiet. But maybe thatâs just to avoid distractions.
Phew
So much said in the least amount of words.
Starting the 3rd quarter, miss after miss after miss. Shooting was pretty terrible all game. I donât blame Gianna, St Joeâs had her covered with #15 most of the night very closely. If the Utes tried to set a decent screen, whistle offensive foul.
The Utes got their fair share of phantom calls, but holy hell were those refs not letting anything go. That drive by #15 late where she arm barred McQueen, pushed off (very clearly) and the foul is on McQueen somehow. Those 3 points were huge.
St. Joes played great defense, and exploited our lack of interior defense most of the night. The Hawks had so many drives end in fouls or baskets because the Utes canât protect the rim. Peterson better figure that out pretty quick or else.
Utah hasnât had an interior defense for quite some time. Itâs been make-3s or lose. Neither Pili (was) nor Johnson is an above-average defender in the paint, imo. Donât think Toure is one, either.
So true. I remember you being quite annoyed (not sure that is the right word) when this years frosh class was announced and there were no bigs. All 6â0 or so swing players. That is commiting to the 3 game. Ross, Toure, and Johnson are going to be in foul trouble all year.
When the two bigs from Oregon State announced their transfers, I was hoping the Utes could get one of them, maybe even the one from Utah. But nope, one went to UCLA (I think, or USC) and Beers went to Oklahoma.
We didnât sign a bunch of 6â0" guards/wings for the 2024 class. We signed all 5â8"/5â9" guards. Now, nothing wrong with guards or shorter guards who can ball, but a few coordinated +6â2" wings/centers would be nice to see. Just look at St Josephâs.
Thanks for the correction. Indeed, I thought Ray and Walker were taller. But we did get 6â3" Evans, who is out.
All 3 signees affirmed theyâre sticking with Utah today, thatâs a relief
An expected win vs Montana State. Utah 3-pt shooting seems to have leveled out. For a team that relies so much on it, thatâs not a good sign. We have some tough competition coming up against Mississippi State and Nore Dame. Really hope we can keep it somewhat respectable against ND.
Still canât believe Crispr is a main player off the bench player at a program like Utah.
