We decided to book flights (those Skymiles aren’t getting any more valuable) and a hotel for a possible PAC12 CCG and were amazed by how hard it was to get hotels near the stadium that week. We finally found one 5 miles away, but last year we were able to stay at the Courtyard and just walk to the stadium, which was really a great way to go. Does anyone have any insight as to why it’s so difficult this year if you’re not wanting to spend $600/night?
National Finals Rodeo starts the same weekend at the Thomas & Mack Center.

And with the National Rodeo, it’s more south strip (Thomas & Mack center, vendors in convention space in Mandalay, etc.) so those hotels fill up more. I’ve never seen more cowboy hats and boots on my flight last year. But I booked travel in July before the season and held on after the 1-2 start and was rewarded (had a close hotel on points and SW flights on points).
It’s going to be a problem every year, but LV always has something going on. Luckily it wasn’t the same weekend as the F1 race. Those prices and availability are BONKERS!
