This means that our home game we already have scheduled against Baylor next year will be considered an out of conference game. Based on this we have a game against SUU and 10 games against Big 12 teams, and one week still TBD.
Was this ever in doubt?
I just kinda figured it was a given.
Playing them the most makes sense.
BYU at Utah year 1. Heads are gonna explode in zoobville.
It should be at our place. When it was scheduled as an OOC game, it was at our place. And the last time we played them, it was at their place. Andā¦it was our home game that Covid messed up, not theirs. They better not whine at all, but they will.
Let them cry like the toddlers with dirty diapers that they are.
Handing them a beat down and restarting a new consecutive winning streak will be what we need to do.
Figure they would need more than a quarter-century winning streak just to get the overall series back to .500. Can you say āNever Going to Happen?ā Sure you can ![]()
No pods or divisions. Just one big pool that includes Morgantown and Orlando right in there with SLC. Makes a ton of sense! /s
āBackā to .500? Itās never been .500. Closest they ever got is probably whatever it was in the early '90s. And even then they were an implausible stretch away from every tying it. Weāve mostly increased that lead in the last 30 years.
18-8 in the last 30 years. 1994-2023.
Ugh Iām being vividly reminded what the Mountain West was like, and why i havenāt missed it.
When we were in the Mountain West, I enjoyed it. We knew we werenāt playing with the big boys, but I liked the schools we played and enjoyed the games. I enjoyed basketball in the Mountain West more than I have in the PAC, but that might just be the result of having better Ute teams most years. Utah had some great battles with New Mexico, UTEP, Wyoming, BYU and SDSU.
Moving to the PAC took us to the big leagues and I have really enjoyed that in football and many other sports the Utes have risen to the competition.
Like many others, it feels like the current make-up of the Big XII is a bit of a step backwards in football. In all other sports it is likely similar. It is better in Menās BBall. I hope we can rise to the top in football and always be in the running for the CFP. Unlike some fans, I donāt think it will be a cakewalk. I donāt think many schools will run through the conference undefeated and each week will have its own challenges. We are seeing this in the PAC. I think all of us believed CU, UA and ASU were gimmes this year, but they are each improved from a year ago and heading in an upward trajectory. Those programs all had a lot of success at one time or another and there is no reason to believe that they wonāt do so again. K State has been good as has TCU, OSU and WVU. Nobody is a blueblood. Everyone will be scraping.
Maybe itās the nature of football: a complicated game with multiple opportunities for mistakes, mis-reads, injuries and occasional game changing moments of brilliance or ineptitude. I mean, we almost beat Ohio State, until we didnāt⦠We kicked the ā ā ā ā outa Oregon in Autsen, but got dismantled at home.
Iām hoping we continue to earn respect as a gritty but decent athletes representing an excellent institution, both of whom punch well above their weight-class.
Perfectly stated. Itās who we are, itās what we do.
