The issue was that he was still in the pocket. If he had moved left or right at all it’s obviously not intentional grounding. He also threw it into the stands, or close… making it incredibly obvious what he was trying to do. That coupled with the fact that he had 2 guys bearing down for an inevitable sack…
Welcome to our often happy but currently unhappy collective primal scream and discussion board Cyfan974!
Here’s an amusing moment from the game:
In the 2nd quarter we had a drive that stalled, so Bouwmeister came in to punt.
Everyone around me was already angry with frustration at the officiating, and the offense.
On the punt, this young guy behind me pulled out a reference from Caddyshack(!), and started chanting “Noonan! N-Noonan! N-Noonan! Noonan!” and I caught on while the ball was in flight and we were yelling out the jinx… and the ball bounced off their punt returner and we recovered it.
IT WORKED!!!
lol
About the officiating…Ute fans weren’t hallucinating.
-
on the BS timeout, on their fumbled snap we recovered. Some guy took the time to break that down. The snap was in the air when Campbell signaled for a timeout…which was granted.
-
on the defensive holding on their FG attempt: there hasn’t been that call at any level of CFB in thirty two years.
Clearly… conferences need to disassociate from specific officiating crews.
Spread the “wealth”, or whatever you want to call it, Yormark!
The link doesn’t work, and I would love to watch it if you can figure out how to publish the link. TIA ![]()
I was thinking about this call and talking with other in my section and none of us could ever remember having seen that call made. Not surprising that we had id called against us this year and particularly last night.
On the other hand, we did get out much needed pick-six, so we don’t have to watch that streak end ![]()
