Utah vs ISU

Good point, and it’s natural turf. Wonder what approach they take to tarping the field during the week.

You don’t tarp football fields (or grass, the tarp on a baseball field is for the dirt, not the grass, as the dirt has a lot of clay in it)

The drainage systems under natural fields can handle most rain without issue.

The only tarp you would use on a grass field is a grow tarp to try and either extend the growing season in colder weather, or, protect it during prolonged snow.

Those tarps are made to help with temperature, they’re not water resistant

You’re wrecking our ability to wildly guess!

Damn experts… ugh. (in the voice of Yosemite Sam)

 lol

I remember well our conversations about turf (artificial and natural) while watching practice under Mac. It’s always nice to talk with somebody who has deep subject knowledge.

I remember a few things, but my turf life was a lifetime ago, I can retire from my current profession in 9 months…..which just reminds me I’m getting old.

I hope they packed the allowable equivalent of the old shark-tooth cleats for this one.

I also love our propensity as Utah fans (myself included) to be pessimistic about our team’s prospects to win a game and their ability to deal with something like weather or water as well as the opponent does.

If you’re not a negative Nelly, you’re not a real Utah fan.

I hope you all remember to be attired in the proper number of pieces of flair today for the game. We don’t need anyone putting the voodoo on the team.

Does the Utah football team have some sort of climatological vulnerability that I have not hitherto been made aware? All of this heated meteorological banter leads me to conclude that the team is in big trouble.

Yes.

I just saw some posts on another board about how there was a non-football event at their stadium last week so the field was trashed to begin with. Guess it’s gonna be a slop fest!

Let me guess. Iowa. Something involving tractors?

Doesn’t look terrible in photos.

Certainly not like the 2000 BYU game when RES between the 20’s was green painted sand, which was the best we could do after 28 bands marched on it in snow in late October.

I was hoping it was a Kid Rock concert. 6 people can’t do much damage.

I can envision tractors at a Kid Rock
concert.

That’s an ok start. I guess

Mana needs to just go with the fair catch. Absolutely nothing there.

Why TF is Bray running between the tackles on 3rd and 1?
