Back to football, I have a lot of doubts about Graham Mertz as our starting QB, but if he plays on the field as well as he handles press conferences, he should do ok.
I can’t seem to find a direct link to the video, but if you go here…
and scroll down just a tad, you will see his meeting with the media yesterday. He does it better than some coaches. He handles the press very well.

Good interview, talked about the physical nature of the early part of camp, how Miles Battle and Levani Damuni have fit in, talks about UF’s QB and how the Wisconsin tape & stats reveal he’s better than one would think.
A lot of coachspeak.
One point toward the end was interesting - Morgan said there’s enough tape on Utah and Florida that game planning gets complicated.
“They know our tendencies, and we know their tendencies, and we know our own tendencies. So, it becomes a matter of 'what do we think they’ll see and try to exploit in what they see of us?'”
Worthy thoughts, but… I think we just need to get the game going.

From what I understand, UF will wear traditional orange helmet, white top and blue pants. With the red out, it will be at least colorful.

Hopefully we have some defensive tackles left to play the game. Sounds like we have upwards of 6 players who are 50/50 according to Whit. Not sure we can beat you, an SEC team, with that many starters potentially out. Hopefully most of them can play.

While I disagree with his final analysis, I like that dude. He’s generally very positive about Utah and seems to know his stuff.

A first game “knockdown and drag out” isn’t out of the question here. That said, I won’t be surprised if Nate Johnson end up as the starter. If he isn’t starting, we will see the field for no other reason than his speed and skills are disrupting as hell to the defense.
Now that JaQuinden has a full training cycle under his belt, it won’t be surprising to see ihim getting more reps.

Yeah, he has a pretty fair analysis. Plus, he’s really only a homer for Iowa State and he’s from Georgia and has zero ties there. He just likes the program. I also like that he has the 247 staff for stats and recruiting info.

That is some quality stuff. My bro was @ UF for a few years and I was able to see a game in the Swamp during Tebow’s freshman year. He was an incredible college football player. That was a fun experience.
You guys have a nice thing going with the band, the Jaws music, and the crowd chant. Quintessential college football.
I’m so curious to see if Jackson still wears those teeny tiny QB shoulder pads this year. lol.
With which parts do you disagree? If Rising does not play it seems like a push to me. I think he is pretty close.
Obviously I hope Rising is ready to go but I am skeptical that he will be and don’t want to see him get. re-injured by coming back to soon. I hope Barnes and or Johnson are ready to pick up where Rising left off. This strikes me as unlikely given that Rising is one of the best QBs to ever play for Utah.
Further, I think Florida is going to be better than people are expecting.
All of this = nail biter of a game. Hope I’m wrong and Utah boat races them.
