Utah vs. Florida Predictions

Last year was a zero year for Napier. Anybody who looked at it as anything else was delusional.

This year is year one. It’s going to take two more years to get the program competing at the top end of the SEC. His #1’s can compete now. The #2’s and #3’s…not so much. That said, the talent he found can be those players with the time and reps.

The really sobering part is this. Our best offensive lineman last year and our best RB, were transfers from Napier’s old school. The second best RB was his recruit, Etienne. We just need to give this man time. Three years minimum.

If Cam is good to go 87-6 Utes. If he’s not 7-6 Utes.

Utah fans were similarly confident last year. I expect this game to be a nail biter.

C Kingsley Eguakin appears to be a game time decision. His absence would be a very big loss for the Gators, given he is the center, and therefore the QB of the OL that is full of new players trying to gel and play together as a unit.

He is a top 5 most important player on the team right now in my opinion. He could be top 2 given his important leadership role on a unit that is trying to gel and come together as a team.

It looks like this game could swing based on what happens with Rising, Kuithe, and Eguakin. I think Jake Slaughter is the backup center. The coaches have raved about his performance this offseason, but there is no past performance to point to to get excited about playing the back up center. I hope both teams are at full strength, and I think this will be a good game.

I haven’t confirmed this but apparently two of the guys on College Gameday picked us to win the PAC-12 this season.

I guess it’s true. I hope they are right.

I hope the players don’t hear about this…

The October 15th 2022 game versus USC was the first Rice-Eccles game I had been to since the 2004 game versus school down south. Most of the time I watch games with my wife on a TV set aside for us at various establishments on the Central Coast of California, usually almost nobody else in the place is very interested. As the USC game commenced, sitting about halfway up in the Ken Garff section, a pleasant reality hit me like a ton of bricks, and I don’t know what else I expected, but it was, I’ll be damned, all these people sitting around me want the Utes just as much as I do.

I have a list of various people that I identify as personal hero’s, mostly because we share something in common, the specifics of which I will not describe here, a couple of them being George Washington and Snowshoe Thompson, among others. George and Delores Eccles are also on the list.

I’d much rather have a stadium named Eccles than Albertsons or United Airlines.

Haha. I only say this because prognosticators are often wrong. I want them to be right, but I’d rather them pick USC and them we beat them down . Same for UW, UO, Oregon St…

The fact is that historically our Utes have done best when they are underdogs. I’d prefer that they had been picked 2nd or 3rd. Oh, well. That’s why they play the games!

Looks like ESPN made McAfee put a jacket over his tank top. The man still can’t wear a real shirt.

Mandel at The Athletic picked the Utes 4th. At least some still see us as behind UO, UW and SC.

Just a little trivia, but the storm has changed Florida’s travel plans somewhat.

Dallas, then Salt Lake

Idalia is expected to make landfall as a Category 3 hurricane on Florida’s Gulf Coast Wednesday morning. The new plans for a stop in Dallas allow the Gators to still arrive in Utah on Wednesday.

Not good to have a disruption in the practice schedule, but it is what it is.
