Sammy may not have watched the game.
According to other statistics, Utah only went rush-rush-pass on 4 of the 27 set of downs with Wilson.

Worth noting that Wison apparently played yesterdayās game with mono and a 102 degree fever.
Iām sure that had an effect on his play.
He threw three picks yesterday. Thatās not great (though one was a complete fluke that typified Utahās season). But he didnāt have a terrible game. The defense allowed six touchdowns, and the special teams once again had awful coverage.
I hope Wilson sticks around. I really think he can be pretty good. Bolster the pass-blocking, get him some weapons (you know, receivers who can actually get open, catch the ball, and play unselfishly), and help him gain confidence.
Mac on Friday said he didnāt think he would play, when they showed Wilson close up, I thought āthat guy is sickā.
When I look at the position players laying it outā¦ I just canāt bag on the team. The goals of the season were lost weeks ago, but these guys keep fighting.
I think 3 is the one that deserves some analysis. Bring some outside experts in to evaluate the programās strength and conditioning, football practice intensity, rest periods and preventive health programs over the last 10 years, presence of voodoo dolls around the practice facility, etc.
It certainly felt like more, much more.
Iād also argue, get him some plays that allow him to throw to receivers who are moving, ie a crossing pattern.
Wilson had the flu with a 102 degree fever and the only fluids he had was from an IV
Kid gave it his all.
Letās be honest with ourselves, how many of us would perform well in our jobs or other activities under those conditions? I had the flu a week or so ago. I barely get off the couch. Mind you, Iām 28 years older than him, but still ā¦
They will need it. College sports are over. This is practically the NFL now: massive roster turnover, free agency, people holding out for more money. Sucks.
Pretty good summary from a guy on FB
During his weekly press conference, Coach Whittingham talked at length about the transfer portal and revenue sharing. He said that transfer portal has changed everything. He said it is what allowed a team like Colorado to go from 11 losses two years ago to a contending team this year. Kyle also said that revenue sharing will largely decide the effectiveness of the transfer portal.
Next year there will be 105 positions available per football team. He said the elite programs, like Oregon, have revenue-sharing sums of over $30 million. Kyle said that Utah has taken every football position and has assigned a value or offer to it and it must be competitive with other teams. The top paid position is usually quarterback and they start at $1 million. Sanders, at Colorado, is paid over $5 million and their receiver, Hunter, is paid over $3 million. There are some linebackers that are now making over $1 million.
Kyle said, if Utah wants to compete, they have to have the revenue to pay players or else they will lose them to the portal and they will play elsewhere. He also said, the entire program has to adjust because players come and go and they donāt have time to take 3 or 4 years to learn a system. So, we have to adapt to a āplug and playā type of football program and players have to learn to mesh with each other very quickly.
Just about everything I donāt want to see in college football.
Kyle has always been one to adapt to the new reality, a huge part of what has made him successful.
Hereās a name that could conceivably be coming to Utah: Noah Fifita
In a Darren Carrington kind of way, Iād welcome him with open arms, welcome him home with his uncle Steve. If we get a second chance to not screw up not recruiting him, thatās a good thing, IMO.
I canāt imagine Kyle wants to deal with this much longer. I couldnāt blame him. Makes me wonder if the most successful college coaches going forward will be guys who coached in the NFL.
This is why we are seeing programs hire football GMs and additional staff for the ābusinessā side of things.
Fifita? Nah
Athletics in US universities are marketing engines + they bring broader communities together. Itās minor league professional sports, branded and attached to higher educational institutions.
The good thing in the coming salaries is it will help the other sportsā athletes, and should help keep the competitive arms race somewhat under control.
Well as long as athletics are cut away from student fees and scholarships and the athletes no longer get special treatment in half their classes then so be it.
Employ them like you do grounds crew and instructors or sell off the franchise and get out of the game.
Do they even have to attend class anymore to stay eligible?
Kyle seemed intrigued when the very first question asked of him at the presser was about coaches fining players. Now the reporter who asked it made it sound like a done deal, and Kyle, rightfully so apparently, didnāt know anything about it. He, in a good natured way, said heād have to get more info and understand it, but you could almost see him thinking Dino g a kid for skipping a class or meeting would be satisfying.
