I donā€™t know how to do download an interview from ESPN700 that Sean Oā€™Connell did with Andy Ludwig, but if you want to hear a really good interview, go give it a listen.

Good article about Cam Calhoun

Iā€™ve been meaning to ask, does anybody have any insider info about whoā€™s starting at QB this Saturday against BYE? :football:

I donā€™t knowā€¦good question. After the last two games we might hope itā€™s one of the physical therapists trying to get folks healthy.

Iā€™m guessing that Cam Rising will be a game time decision.

The worst part about last weekā€™s painful loss, is that this week is a BYE, so we have to live with the bad taste for 2 weeks. Iā€™ll find some sort of football to watch this weekend to take my mind of it, but mostly, Iā€™m happy Iā€™m just suffering as a fan, rather than as a player. Iā€™m guessing the team, coaches, and everyone around the day-to-day operation of the programs feel a lot worst than any of us.

Going to enjoy the late summer weather, spend time visiting our grandsons, and take a few days off from football. All of you have a safe and happy weekend.

I hate to say it, but after Whitā€™s comments today, Iā€™m starting to think weā€™ve seen the last of Cam Rising in an Utah uniform. Between the comments about Rising now not being medically cleared (huh?) and the long term future, I have a hard time believing heā€™ll be back at any point.

I just donā€™t think you say something like this unless you think itā€™s a very real possibility.

What I donā€™t understand is thisā€¦Rising was a ā€œgame-timeā€ decision two games ago. Huh?

As my interest in CFB has significantly waned, I donā€™t care quite as much. Nonetheless, Iā€™m still curious.

I suppose this goes along with a thought that Iā€™ve had on Rising. He is a hell of a competitor. Heā€™s also fragile. He does have a history of injuries, think back to 2020 when he had that neck injury, iirc. So, he doesnā€™t have a great future ahead of him as a player. Perhaps he may want to hang up the cleats and become a coach? Maybe he can pass on his passion to other QBs. Maybe like John Beck, become some sort of QB guru, if he (Cam) has that knack. Iā€™ve enjoyed his playing, but he needs to think of his future.

Honestly if Cam wants to be a coach and canā€™t play then he needs to just say so like Bottari did. Step up on the sidelines and keep the team pumped. Weā€™d all respect that.

What the fans canā€™t stand is the absurdly long yo-yo will he wonā€™t be game that Whitt has created. A one week ā€œmaybe readyā€ is one thing. Going on for months itā€™s an absurd circus that hurts the brand.

I feel like we are in a fish or cut bait point in the season. Experience matters but so does having real current live game experience. If Cam canā€™t play this week then let Wilson run the season. Prepare for the future. Because Iā€™ll bet money right now that if Cam comes in any later that heā€™ll be rusty and start pressing and get hurt again. This seems easy to predict.

Itā€™s going to be Wilson at QB1 until it isnā€™t. The positive is hat the kid is learning is invaluable; and FWIW he will be the starter next season - no question.
