I don’t know how to do download an interview from ESPN700 that Sean O’Connell did with Andy Ludwig, but if you want to hear a really good interview, go give it a listen.

Good article about Cam Calhoun

I’ve been meaning to ask, does anybody have any insider info about who’s starting at QB this Saturday against BYE? :football:

I don’t know…good question. After the last two games we might hope it’s one of the physical therapists trying to get folks healthy.

I’m guessing that Cam Rising will be a game time decision.

The worst part about last week’s painful loss, is that this week is a BYE, so we have to live with the bad taste for 2 weeks. I’ll find some sort of football to watch this weekend to take my mind of it, but mostly, I’m happy I’m just suffering as a fan, rather than as a player. I’m guessing the team, coaches, and everyone around the day-to-day operation of the programs feel a lot worst than any of us.

Going to enjoy the late summer weather, spend time visiting our grandsons, and take a few days off from football. All of you have a safe and happy weekend.

I hate to say it, but after Whit’s comments today, I’m starting to think we’ve seen the last of Cam Rising in an Utah uniform. Between the comments about Rising now not being medically cleared (huh?) and the long term future, I have a hard time believing he’ll be back at any point.

I just don’t think you say something like this unless you think it’s a very real possibility.

What I don’t understand is this…Rising was a ā€œgame-timeā€ decision two games ago. Huh?

As my interest in CFB has significantly waned, I don’t care quite as much. Nonetheless, I’m still curious.

I suppose this goes along with a thought that I’ve had on Rising. He is a hell of a competitor. He’s also fragile. He does have a history of injuries, think back to 2020 when he had that neck injury, iirc. So, he doesn’t have a great future ahead of him as a player. Perhaps he may want to hang up the cleats and become a coach? Maybe he can pass on his passion to other QBs. Maybe like John Beck, become some sort of QB guru, if he (Cam) has that knack. I’ve enjoyed his playing, but he needs to think of his future.

Honestly if Cam wants to be a coach and can’t play then he needs to just say so like Bottari did. Step up on the sidelines and keep the team pumped. We’d all respect that.

What the fans can’t stand is the absurdly long yo-yo will he won’t be game that Whitt has created. A one week ā€œmaybe readyā€ is one thing. Going on for months it’s an absurd circus that hurts the brand.

I feel like we are in a fish or cut bait point in the season. Experience matters but so does having real current live game experience. If Cam can’t play this week then let Wilson run the season. Prepare for the future. Because I’ll bet money right now that if Cam comes in any later that he’ll be rusty and start pressing and get hurt again. This seems easy to predict.

It’s going to be Wilson at QB1 until it isn’t. The positive is hat the kid is learning is invaluable; and FWIW he will be the starter next season - no question.

Some media members reporting that Cam will start tonight. We’ll see.

The Utes seem to lose every road game I attend, just hoping the curse breaks tonight.

If Cam plays tonight. I hope that he doesn’t try to hero ball very much. He needs to know when to throw himself into harms way, and when not to do so. He’s got running backs for the tough yards, he’s got an arm and good receivers and TEs to help move the chains too. Only run if he can get the easy yards, slide or step out of bounds before he gets blown up.

Sam Huard apparently had season-ending surgery, which is why we haven’t heard him mentioned in any of the QB discussions.

The number of major injuries the last couple years is just so baffling to me.

Yeah, good point on injuries. Wonder what’s going on there, or maybe not going on.

I know they changed the physicality of fall camp and recovery times, but there are ways to work on strength and flexibility that is good for joint and connective tissue health. Some are just bad luck, but seems like the stubbornness to not overhaul the strength and conditioning seems suspect and a bad call.

So, now we are Rose, IW (some injury, but playable), and Ferrari Bottari?
