Six points would’ve been handy to have.
BTW, it’s kind of a nice recognition from the Cougar crowd that they’re rushing the field.

Yeah, I worry about this a lot. Especially since BYU has billionaire donors and we just…don’t. That gap could widen very quickly.
Don’t even want to discuss it.
Damn.
Turnovers and bad decisions.
We won the rushing battle - 226 to 202, and the passing battle - 244 to 166.
Their next two games are at Iowa State then at Texas Tech.
We host Colorado then Cincinatti.
Damnit.
When you run into your BYU friends… and they will find you… just say BYU’s season has a 1984 vibe. The Cyclones and/or TTech will knock them off, then you can just shrug later. “Hey, seemed that way!”
The rivalry requires no less.
Turn the page… there’s no other option. Can’t let this one linger, have to beat the Buffs.
I wasn’t expecting this season to result in the CCG let alone the playoffs. I just wanted us to do better on offense and get back to a bowl game.
It’s why I’m paying less and less attention- money is ruining everything good about the sport. We’ll get to see how far cash can take you in TT’s case. If they can sustain it, they should be consistently competing for the conference championship. I don’t see us being in that position very much going forward.
The CFP naysayers weren’t wrong to be worried, but most of us didn’t expect the NCAA to also be completely defanged and for CFB to experience it’s own version of Citizens United.
Got back from the game seeing plenty of “Rose Bowl Game” shirts and even a Pac12 shirt . . . I hope Ute fans can treasure this loss as much as you enjoyed losing @ the Rose Bowl, and losing your beloved conference.
In all honesty, that was a hard fought game, really fun to watch, loved every minute of it!
Hope you feel better with the jackassery comments. That had to be 20 years of frustration you unloaded there. We definitely understand the emotion. I laughed at the “Quest for Perfection” gear… which, who knows, might be making trips to Ames and Lubbock?
Tell you what - if you do a Go Fund Me to pay for you to travel to the next two games wearing Quest for Perfection gear, I’ll bet you’ll get enough money to cover the trip (excluding possible car breakdowns). Deal??
Come on, own it! Be a man, in the spirit of the rivalry I’ll pay $200 for a photo of you in Ames & Lubbock with Quest for Perfection gear.
Good game. Your QB is good, but looked like he was really wincing in pain. This game tonight was a physical battle.
Hope nobody gets shot tonight.
LOL at the clowns who show up once a year then scurry back to their holes.
An insult to real clowns.
First off, Congrats to Utah on a hard fought game. . . Being 5-2 is still a strong start to the season! I wish nothing but good things for Utah the rest of the season.
Second, to the fans defending the dumb “Rose bowl game” shirts and all the rose emblems.
Again, I hope you treasure this loss as much as you treasured that Rose bowl loss!
Third, I have never worn a “Quest for perfection” shirt, and personally think it was a stupid shirt and slogan by BYU’s coach and athletic department. So I will not take the bet. Personally, I am glad you called BYU out on that 2008 slogan, because it was a really dumb idea to start, and when Utah went 13-0 in the best season of Football this state has ever seen. . . The slogan went from dumb to embarassing.
You Zoobs would cream yourselves to go to a Rose Bowl, and you know it. Go away.
Well yeah, now that it is a playoff game!
But honestly reflecting on the situation. Going 10-4 is a solid season. Even if you only beat 1 ranked team in '21 and another in '22, it is still a solid season.
Would I be happy with a 10-4 season, absolutely.
But I would rather take the 11-1, 10-3, and 11-2 seasons than either of the 10-4 seasons with ranked wins against only 1 team.
TL;DR . . . No I would not “cream myself” and I will go away. Good luck to Utah the rest of the season!
I think the fact that you though of us enough to come trolling by after a year of not posting here instead of celebrating is much more of a burn on your than I could ever come up. Its hard to beat a self-own. Take care, clown.
It was a really good game, BYU is playing at a high level, the fans storming the field is something each fan base has done after victories in the rivalry. Sincere congrats, in the way sports is supposed to be.
In an earlier era, I’ve known a lot of BYU’s coaches when they were at Utah, so I don’t have any animosity toward them or really anyone at BYU.
Maybe it was the space and perspective a lot of us got when we went in different directions - rivalries with other conference teams that didn’t have religious and social overtones. It was liberating, to be honest. Remembering the ugly emotions from before - even after a win - confirmed it was time to let the most toxic emotional aspects of the rivalry fade.
I’m glad they arrested the guy threatening to shoot Utah fans, hope you feel the same.
I think it’s smart to keep the rivalry game in the middle of the season. With a potential season championship on the line in this era at the end of the regular season? That’s another level of intensity that should be avoided, IMO.
I used to think somebody might get killed in the MWC era - now actual threats of random violence in this era make the idea of a higher stakes rivalry game at the end of the season unappealing. The presidents of both schools agree the temperature needs to come down. Fan-on-fan homicide is a topic they likely both seek to avoid like the plague. (UVU President Tuminez unfortunately knows that kind of horror.)
No offense, but I don’t really care as much as I used to about BYU’s fortunes going forward. Maybe they’ll get beat by subsequent opponents, maybe they’ll be in the CFP.
I’m focused on Utah and how well we do the rest of the year.
Take care. Enjoy the win. Good luck, in a sportsmanship kind of way.
Go Utes!!! ![]()
Thank you! What an immature thing to do to show up here and make snide remarks. Be better. Think celestial.
Well, the door was open to win this one, and we didn’t take care of business and walk through it. Sometimes gambling doesn’t pay. Props to TDS for taking care of their business today.
Now we need to beat the Buffs and Cincy to stay involved the Conference discussion, and get ready for bowl season. Winning could be the difference between either going to play in Vegas, or playing in the land of shiny rocks and El Caminos.
On a last note, given every time one of these game day shows appears where we play, it’s like they put the voodoo on us. Maybe someone ought to get Whitt Jobu for the locker room and they can sacrifice a bucket of chicken to it if these bringers of the bad show up again. ![]()
He’s now on vacation for a while.
Meh, let em chirp. I’m sure it’s done mainly just so the other Cougarboard dorks can now pat him on the back and tell him how brave he is for coming here and dealing with us heathens.
They only stick around for a day or two then disappear until next year anyways.
Too many mistakes against a good team. BYU played relatively error free and deserved the win.
Analytics be damned, my wife looked at me when Whitt went for it on 4th down on the first drive and said that the Utes would regret not taking the FG.
Muffed punt that prevented Utah from trying to score to end the half. Fortunate BYU made clock management mistakes and only got a FG.
Utes get the go ahead TD and defense allows BYU to drive the length of the field in 6 plays to retake the lead. Happens way too often.
sigh, that was humbling.
Like Skiny Ute said, don’t make this a double loss, Utes need to bounce back next Saturday
Ugh, pain is growth right?
