Going back to the evil Harbaugh as a coach (and cheater it seems) things have not looked great at UM.
How many people have been suspended or given a show cause from Harbaughs and Warde Manuel (AD that all have served under AFAIK).
Maybe UM should burn down the athletic department, at least the football program, and rebuild.
MSU, PSU, and now UM have at least turned a blind eye to crap going on in their athletic departments. They may have all actively covered up bad stuff going on at each of them.
I understand that these 3 are not the only programs to have issues, but at least 2 of these 3 have been really bad about protecting athletes.
We’re seeing what happens when they go with ‘Michigan men’ … They need some outsiders to come in and clean house. Hire on character before pure credentials. Definitely an institutional problem. Need a total attitude adjustment. Spying, cheating, bad morals - nothing ‘illegal’ (ok, the domestic violence is) but definitely tons that are unethical and/or morally reprehensible.
Almost seems as though they could use a man with the caliber of one Kyle whittingham. Not that I’m suggesting he go there, but when we compare backward the contrast and character and morality between Kyle and his predecessor, are we not all universally relieved that we got Urban out of here before he could do the same thing to our program?
There was talk on r/cfb about Whit going there, or at least the hope that he would go there. I think the idea was exactly to clean up the mess that UM has created for itself.
Perhaps is some time had a lapsed between Kyle’s retirement here, and that mess blowing up into a hurricane there, it might have been somewhere in the realm of possibility. I think everybody needs to get it through their head that Kyle is not in any hurry to go anywhere else after all he has actually agreed to work here as a consultant or whatever for at least a couple of years. That’s in the fact that I think you would really like a bit of a breather before tackling any other major nightmares.
I mean stop and think about it for a second he’s been here for what 30 31 years total? You go back and look at the images of him when he first came to coach with his father, and it’s like oh my God was he ever really that young?
Smaller schjool, most people never really think about, but looking at the geographic copntimuum from State College over to Lansing,it appears there’s a lot of rot in that area. And if it ever came out, ever worse in the SEC, buit the old boys network keepiung a lot of it under wraps.
Just makes us all realize how truly BLESSED, and I mean that, we were to have a moral paragon like Kyle for a full generation. I cant imagine his Father, or McBride could possibly be happier to have helped form him and send him on his way.
