Two weeks out from the start of the Alex era. I took a look at the tv schedule and compared it to last year, its very interesting!
In the regular season last year, we had 24 games on ESPN+, 4 on ESPN/2, 1 on ESPNU, 1 on the Big10 Network, and 1 on CBS Sports. Last year, all I had was ESPN+ and was able to see almost 80% of our games. Not bad.
This year, we have 11 games on ESPN+, 4 on CBS Sports, 3 on ESPN/2, 3 on FS1, 3 on Peacock, 3 on TNT/Tru, 2 on Fox, 1 on ACC Network, 1 on ESPNU. Id be extremely curious to know how many of you have cable/streaming packages that have all those channels (assuming peacock is seperate, but maybe not? I honestly dont know if anyone offers that as a promo). This year I upgraded to ESPN unlimited so ill be able to see all the games on espn+,u,1,2, and acc network. I also have Peacock. That puts me at about 2/3 of the games.
FWIW, the womens teams will continue to be primarily on ESPN+ with a few games on the fox networks.
So now Peacock has college hoops? I get that network as I follow English Football but good lord it’s getting harder and harder for fans to buy all the $$$$treaming services to follow their teams.
You’ve got that right. The whole streaming model has just turned into a huge money sucking mess. I wanted to drop Disney+ over the Kimmel fiasco, but there goes ESPN+, and Only Murders in the Building. I originally got Peacock for the TdF, but it’s the only way to see 30Rock reruns, sometimes has other things of interest, and now college hoops. They all seem to start with one baited hook: Prime - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, AppleTV- Ted Lasso, and then just enough to keep you from dropping them. Add in DishNet’s sports package for football and basketball and it’s insane.
