Maybe this is a gauge of how far Utah has fallen in relevance in basketball. The program has been in a slide for at least five years.
IMO, utah tends to have higher highs & lower lows than my school of choice. It must be quite the rollercoaster for you guys.
Iām not sure that ārollercoasterā is the correct term. Itās been a steady dose or case of frustration and irrational hope. Our expectations have come way down since the Majerus years. Now just making the NIT would be great, but itās not an expectation. If our new coaching staff can get itās collective crap together, we may have a rollercoaster, until then expectations are a .500 if the team is lucky.
I was including your late 90ās run. That was a pretty high āhigh.ā
Utah has had a lot more NBA talent than any other school in the state, by a wide margin. In fact itās been a few generations since any other school in the state has put an impact player in the NBA (besides the one time Lillard from Weber).
There are still 3 Coach K players in the NBA right now.
Maybe heāll transfer back to Utah. LOL
if youāre an average to good D1 basketball athlete it appears its an excellent way to see the country
NOOOOOO! I know our roster has not come together the way we all wanted it to yet, but we are pretty far away from going after Gach!
I just want them to find the best players they can, regardless of where they come from. If you want to be here, be here. If not, see ya later. No hard feelings.
Itās surprising to me to see byu listed as a finalist for a lot of the transfers. Pope is casting a much wider net than zoob coaches before him. Cleveland signed some guys who didnāt fit the byu mold and it embarrassed the school. I wonder if this will end up biting Pope in the end.
Thats 3 guys now that we have made a cut for
Steffan Mitchell (SDSU, Utah, Minnesota)
Chiehk Diong (Florida State, UCF, Utah)
TeāJon Lucas
Lets get at least 1 of them! or better yet, all 3!
Nice! This should shut up the nay sayers.
Utah also in the sweepstakes
6ā4 190lb SG
I think theyāre looking to upgrade the roster with transfers each year. The roster is solid IMO, but the idea is to get better and older each year. Just my $0.02
Makes sense, why not go that route if you are allowed to do so.
Not that anyone wants to hear it but this is what Nick Saban warned everyone about. This was supposed to help parity. This is just going to be used by the powerful to become more powerful. Alabama Football already pulled one of Ohio Stateās best WRs and Tennesseeās best LB.
