1917

Saw 1917 this evening. It was beautifully done. Great acting, awesome cinematography- I think it will go down as one of the greatest war films ever, right up there with Saving Private Ryan. I was really pleased to see a WW1 film get this much attention. Anyone else see it?

I saw it. Liked it. The thing about it is it was very depressing, so…like war…

In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.

I thought it was amazing. The cinematography was some of the best I’ve ever seen. It surprises me when people say they didn’t like it.
