…system seems near collapse it’s something to think about. If you don’t get into the CFP, what is there to play for? Historically, bowl games. But with all the opt outs and everyone being worn out and distracted by the holidays, just shift all those matchups to late August?(Easier said than done, but something to consider. One problem: many warm weather bowl destinations will be crappy places in August.)Kannel’s idea might get some traction, but in the meantime somebody - anybody - needs to help stabilize CFB. ESPN laid off a ton of folks in the last year, so their financial situation might mean most bowls just cease operation.(Maybe ESPN needs to revive and cultivate a new generation of roller derby fans. That kept my attention back in the 70s on Saturdays, but we only had 5 channels.)

I understand. But this is my “hobby”. I don’t golf. I don’t hunt. Tailgating and attending football games is what I do. I always block out the entire day for games. That’s why I get peeved when the game is at noon. That cuts out great tailgating time. People who think that a couple of hours tailgating is ample, just don’t understand tailgating.

It just figures that the year i FINALLY make connections to be in a tailgating cadre, ALL THE FU***ING GAMES are at Noon or 1 pm.

Not sure what this means. Maybe I’m the only one that’s confused, but can you elaborate?

I guess I am wondering if there will still be a top 25, as a practical matter? Or will the sports worlds (and fans) pay attention only (or mostly) to the CFP rankings? Will that become the measuring stick for success, financial support, bowl money, and so forth? I’m not predicting doom, just trying to envision what the college football world will look like. I don’t see these changes as in the best interests of anyone but the big-name college football programs, and maybe ESPN and other sports broadcasters.

So JJ ended up at Arkansas. I guess the Crimson Collective didn’t want to pony up, although I’m fairly certain there was more to it than that. Arkansas went 4-8 this last season.

Now I have even less respect for the boy. None of us liked the idea of SMU buying him, etc, but to bail on THIS program for freaking Arkansas? ANother perfect example of the ■■■■■■■■ that was him and other players mouthing that whole “Family!!” cheer in the locker room etc, but having zero intention of living up to it.
