People that wait until the checker has totaled their grocery bill before pulling out their wallet and then start writing a check !
So, are you a misanthrope? Because you can join my club.
Isn’t that sort of an oxymoron?
I didn’t say we ever met. ![]()
Not really. Just pointing out observations from my professional life in behavioral health.
People still write checks at stores? Actually had someone in front of me at the grocer’s write a check a few day ago, was the first time in quite a while I’ve seen that happen.
I don’t write checks at stores, but I do write a couple of checks a month.
Not even kidding here: Recently, a woman in front of me at the grocery store not only wrote a check but had the audacity to rifle through an envelope full of coupons for the poor cashier to decipher and match up.
Worse yet, several of the coupons were either incorrect or expired. Thankfully, the store manager recognized the angst of the growing line and called up another checker while opening another line himself.
For a brief moment, I thought I’d been transported to the 70s or early 80s. Cringeworthy.

If it was the 70’s, it was your punk self counting out pennies at the counter to buy your sugary snacks and a bottle of pop. ![]()
Dating yourself with the " bottle of pop" gee whiz Wally
Well heck Beav, you don’t want them to think you’re some kind of creep or something.
But I’ll bet you never have to whip out your check protection card! (Remember those?)
People who won’t let me merge. For the love of god! Just let me over!
In other words, “Utah drivers”.
If you signaled before moving in, I’d let you in, anytime. ![]()
Not me. No way anyone gets ahead of me.
(at least that seems to be the prevailing attitude)
If there isn’t much space and I can see someone who’s “leaning” into switching lanes without signaling, theni won’t let it in. Inconsiderate people are one of my pet peeves.
Large trucks tailgating me. Also, people who don’t tip. Women I date who always expect me to pick up the tab. Incredibly passive aggressive people.
Let’s see, what else has been troubling me…
People who borrow money and don’t pay it back. People who get too close to my face when they talk to me. People who when I share something bad that happened to me they try to one up me. A lot of BYU fans. People who touch my laundry at the laundromat. People who show up to a restaurant/establishment and make excessively large orders holding up the line. Driving behind a minivan. People who cover their cars in bumper stickers. People who mistreat their pets.
Especially: people who let the most minute amount of power get to their heads.
Granted, it’s been nearly 30 years since I dated, but isn’t that the standard unless/until agreed upon otherwise?
More and more women I go on dates with are “going dutch”, but there’s no denying that many I’ve gone out with expect me to pay. I just talked to a colleague that “wants to be viewed as a prize”. Those are the types I watch out for now. I want equal footing
