He had hip replacement surgery and then died in his sleep. Cause of death has yet to be determined. Loved the old blues stuff !

Zeppelin IV today. I love Black Dog. Plants vocals are just unreal. Pretty sure John Paul Jones wrote that one.

The new album from Withered is a fantastic slice of death metal.
A GREAT old tune, of which my wife just reminded me, followed by the Jazz Masterpiece from which much of it was stolen (Isn’t YouTube great?!? - who could have all of this in their own collection?)
The first tune, “Diamond Girl”, featured Louis Shelton (on electric guitar), who virtually no on has ever heard of, but who did a lot of spectacular studio guitar work on a lot of great old tunes, and who produced even more very successful music from that era.
The second, well, if I was on a desert island for the rest of my life and could take only two albums, this would be the second.
Edit: Oh, and, how many here besides me are old enough to remember “The Midnight Special”?

It’s great to watch those old MS shows. I tried to find the excerpt from a Steely Dan documentary where Doald Fagen - in his requisite droll manner - upon responding to his favorite albums says “I just listen to Kind of Blue” until the grooves wear out and then go out and buy another."

Yola’s new album. Currently, “Great Divide” from Yola is my favorite. She goes LOOOOOW. Like Colter Low in her register and then ends up high. Crazy that 6 years ago she would have been relegated to the background singer. Hopefully, she’s one of a thousand background singers getting a shot.
She can’t be put in a genre either. She does Rock, Country, Soul and even 70s disco.

I have always loved musicians and groups that have strong background singers in their material. That’s probably why I return to a lot of 70’s and Yacht Rock genre. Amazing vocals.
Yup. The big issue now is the music industry is trying make a cookie cutter version of Yola which is against what made her work. Let artists be artists.
