I’ve never heard of the song, but played it as I was reading the post… To my surprise, I could hear my wife in the next room singing along ![]()
It’s a crazy catchy tune. I think everyone on Planet Earth was singing the chorus in the summer of 1982.
Unpossible.
About 1980 to the mid nineties was the point in my life that I was very deep into discovering the entire world of Classical music, Opera, and still listening to and playing Jazz.
I completely missed most of popular culture during those years (much to my detriment). I’m forever asking, “who is that” about a tune that everyone recognizes. It’s often embarrassing.
Your musical tastes were about 49,000 feet above the Clash, as lovable as they were.
Another band you probably missed: The Dead Milkmen, and their big hit Bitchin’ Camaro.
Bitchin’ Camaro, bitchin’ Camaro - just ran over my neighbor
Bitchin’ Camaro, bitchin’ Camaro - now it’s in all the papers
I have heard this song. But it’s amazing how many popular songs that people think I should know. Part of the issue is that I only have one CD (don’t judge me) from the 80’s. Got a few of the grunge groups from the 90’s though.
My son was wearing a Ramones t-shirt one day. My brother-in-law asked him who the Ramones were. BIL was in high school during the height of the Ramones popularity but even decades later, he still hadn’t heard of the Ramones.
I think he was listening to disco instead.
Aaarrggghhhh…
Yup, completely missed that one too… just listened to it and it turns out I didn’t miss a lot
although I always like a good walking bass, and appreciated the semi-quotes/parody of an old Door’s tune.
All good, I’m pretty much that way with pretty much everything after 2000. I’m allowed though…I’m old. LOL
A co-worker once told me they’d give me $50 on the spot if I could name a single Taylor Swift song, and I came up empty. I don’t have the first clue about popular music.
That video seems a bit elementary, redundant and gratuitous. Doesn’t make me want to rush out and buy the album. But i reallyvstarted tuning out when vapid video imaging became as important as song craft and musicianship.
@LAUte: Is that how everyone drives in LA?
Only in certain sketchy parts of town.
She’s also not wearing a seatbelt. Where are the cops when you need em?
How can we give negative stars? For putting that song in my head.
I have a bunch of Dead Milkmen songs on my Punk playlist, but not that one.
How is that possible?
It’s definitely on purpose. I can listen to the whole Big Lizard album and just skip that song.
Same for Suicidal Tendencies and Institutionalized. Overplayed and too gimmicky.
I will drink just one Pepsi tonight in honor of your wrongness. ![]()
Lovely. I guess I’m Alone. How will I laugh tomorrow. . .?
I prefer Black Velvet Flag’s cover of Institutionalized. May be considered more enjoyable by others.
