Yeah, dude is not right.
Larry wrecks a surprise party, then in a karmatic way, things get weird with his woman and Ed Asner.

This one isn’t funny, per se, but Bob Odenkirk talks about writing the “Van Down by the River” skit by Chris Farley and how Chris performed it, manipulating the other cast members to break character and laugh.
Bonus: Odenkirk is a Python fan.
Larry’s wingman Leon (JB Smoove) joins a nice birthday lunch with an idea to save Larry’s trial, swerve’s the dialog way out of control.
…especially on my recent drive to southern Idaho earlier this afternoon ![]()
Had a very nice - and funny - experience on Saturday.
A friend’s father had passed away in December, so they had a get together at his university to honor his life, career, all the people he had touched, etc. Probably 200 people, highly impactful life, classy occasion, nice spread.
Retired professor at Idaho State who was widely loved and a great teacher, infused many students & grad students with a curiosity about nature, etc. Would have been 95 on Saturday, so all-in-all an impressive life. Wife, 3 grown children, numerous grandchildren, etc. Very funny guy, practical joker, lover of nature, a consummate teacher of biology, geology, anything to do with nature, beyond his specialty.
Because he was mid 90s and started his faculty career in the early 70s, most of the attendees were themselves elderly, retired, etc.
Great tributes from his wife, children, a few grandchildren, then they opened it up to anyone who wanted to share their tributes / memories. A number of former colleagues and grad students had great things to say, memories of field studies, spring break trips to Death Valley, etc. Local Elk hunting buddies, former tenants he was kind to, all very impressive, he had a big impact on a lot of people, universally loved.
THEN, a woman who appeared to be in her 70s got the mic, and started with the same kind of tribute. "We were studying XYZ out in the field and started a very interesting line of study. On our second trip into the field, we fell in love. It was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. He really loved the women. Blah, blah, blah" I don’t think anyone listened to the rest of her speech.
In that moment, the proverbial pin drop would have been a sonic boom. It was amazingly silent as people looked at each other like “I cannot believe I just heard that… here!”
Then, the remarkably sharp and very smooth 90-something wife got up and took the mic, and casually said:
“I’d just like to remind everyone that there are refreshments and please do sign the remembrance book. And for those of you who didn’t know, ‘Stan’ and I were divorced for 20 years”.
A quick glance around and numerous people were exhaling at the same time.
One of the smoothest catches I’ve ever seen in a social situation.
The rest of the event was really quite good.
Great Story! And very effectively conveyed.
