I did tune in to watch both semi final games and I have to say they did not disappoints
I was happy to see PSU give ND all they had and still lose.
I was not as happy but still happy to see Texas climb into the position to win only to lose (just wish it wasn’t to tOSU)
ND vs OSU looks like a legit matchup. Neither is now a cupcake.
And best of all NO SEC team in the finals!

Further, neither were in the top 4 demonstrating that the playoff needed to be expanded- if the purpose is to crown the best team champion.
It has a more professional feel which may or may not be a good thing for college football as a whole as has been discussed.
My emotional reaction- it is too bad that there is no mechanism for Ohio St. and Notre Dame to both lose in the championship game.
Yes to me the first round and the byes absolutely cemented the idea that it should be 8 or 16 and every team should play. I kind of love that this was exposed in the first season.
That being said I was a big ND doubter but it’s hard to argue they don’t belong after they beat UG and then PSU.! Should be a great matchup.
Ohio State HC Ryan Day gets another week free of speculation that he’ll be fired. So, he’s got that in his back pocket.
The cream rose to the top, as expected, but not without some significant drama and the opportunity for one of the “little guys” to nearly pick off a blue blood. I’d say that’s probably as successful as this format could have hoped for.
That said, I haven’t really had any interest in the semis and doubt I’ll watch the finals either. I really hated one of the teams (Pedo State), can’t stand the head coach of another (Day), and am mostly ambivalent on the other two. I think the format works, but we’re still probably gonna end up with big money team vs big money team 95% of the time. Meh.
That pretty much summed up my Semi-final games. Of the 4 who were there I had fewer issues with ND so, I suppose I prefer them to win. The rest were extra crappy for various reasons.
I do agree that the games were entertaining, and had good drama.
