It has little to do with access, but rather lack of judgement.
Alcohol, drugs and lack of sleep all affect the judgement center of the brain, causing people to do things they may not otherwise do.
(The brain is fascinating. Shoplifting is another thing that makes little sense. The vast majority of people do shoplift have the money to buy things, they steal for the rush)

Shannon Doherty passed yesterday after fighting breast cancer for several years.
I mostly remember her from Mallrats. She was hilarious in that.
