This game is a total crap shoot. Like the Utes, Nevada has an all-new squad. Their entire starting lineup graduated.
They return a guard who was their 6th man, and another starting guard who had to sit out last season with injuries. That’s it! The front line is completely new: a grad transfer from Boston College, a RS Freshman, and a couple of JUCO’s and true freshmen. They have some size.
Given all the newcomers, I think we should expect a flood of turnovers.
Nice win. Nevada ain’t great, but they were a legit test.
Thioune a force on D. Jones is essential. Utes get turnover prone when he sits. Carlson was very good early, but ran out of gas. Allen and Gach were good, but both got a bit out of control at times. Battin was OK.
Utes crushed them on the boards. The front court depth is impressive. Jauntanen and Thioune can’t score, but they are beasts on the glass.
Nevada guards scored 46 points. Ouch.
As expected, 3 pt shooting may be an issue. FT shooting must improve.
