Utes tied their own new record by hitting 19 3’s last night. Last night they took 50 3’s & 15 2 point attempts. They are missing their 3 biggest players: Lovering “day to day” (if FB that means nothing?)-Keller out for another month & Triore (sp?) torn ACL. So they really have little ability to post up. But it works for the Celtics-so who knows. Gabe Madsen is a next level shooter & his twin brother is not far behind.
Mongolian Mike 6’9” starts & backs up the point. Great passer & good defender. Jake Wahlin who had a 5 foot range, has developed a shot & is blocking shots.
Craig Smith without Ryan Smith type NIL backing has put together a decent team. They won’t make the post season, but will surprise some teams at home.
And you will have no trouble finding as good seat.
Obviously, Utah won’t hit 18 or 19 threes a night, so in conference play, especially on the road, this team is going to have some rough, rough games. But there will be nights when they are on fire. If you can shoot 40% from three-point land and hit almost 20, you can beat anyone.
I don’t expect many Big 12 wins, but I agree, there will be a few surprises. And yes, Utah needs a Ryan Smith-type donor. Too bad Huntsman isn’t around any longer.
