Wev’e discussed this before but seems reasonable behavior modification for worst offenders.
I’m pretty fed up with it. Today I was on the I-15 Raceway between Salt Lake and Spanish Fork (headed for the Highway 6 turnoff). Tailgating was especially bad. I’m in the fast lane, 5 MPH above the speed limit so I can pass someone. I can’t change lanes–no room. Someone in a small car (Audi) comes up about one car length behind me. I speed up to 80 MPH just to get some space from him. He stays one length behind me. I can’t stand the jeopardy he’s putting me in, so I punch it, speed up to about 90, change lanes–and immediately slow down. He passes me, probably at about 90 MPH and zooms southward. That happens over and over. I imagine the Highway Patrol realizes they can’t police all of this, so they just take their pick now and then and stop someone. That person gets the ticket. Drivers seem to know it’s a lottery so they drive at unsafe speeds and take their chances on getting stopped. Grrrr.
