I like it
I love those outside games. The view of the wasatch Range will be stunning
Done deal!
The way things are going they better have some bad ■■■ refrigeration equipment so they can be on ice.
They pulled off this year in Florida although it was apparent that the ice was a little soft.
They are field testing it in Florida this year.
A friend of mine used to work for a company that does temporary ice rinks like what they use for this type of game. They have done rinks in Saudi Arabia and other hot places. They will have no problem with the outdoor ice here even if it is in the 50s here. They first did an outdoor exhibition game in 1991 in Vegas. I was at the first regular season outdoor game in 2003 in Edmonton. It was very cold that day which presents its own ice issues.
I remember the games they played in the late afternoon a few years ago in Tahoe. The afternoon sun wreaked havoc on the ice.
I’m not into the team and I will not plan on attending, but I think the Winter Classic game is a publicity event winner for the NHL. Years ago, while watching the games in both Fenway and Chicago, I actually thought RES would be an amazing local; given the stunning mountains in the background and the look of the stadium itself.
I hope winter stays cold and this game becomes a "winter’ classic game.
I still think billionaires should build their own stadiums without public funding from people who can’t afford to attend the games in person.
Well it’s like 65
You can say that all you want, but said billionaire’s facility funds the city.
The top 77 sales tax days in Salr Lake in 2024 were events at the Delta Center.
And that’s what funds public safety and other infrastructure
Related to the Mammoth, they had a thriller last night against the Flyers. Down 2-0 in first 5 minutes and 3-0 in the second period, still down 4-2 in the third, scored with about 8 minutes left, then pulled the goalie and scored with half a minute left (first time team has scored with the extra attacker since moving to Utah). Finished with an overtime goal.
Great stuff.
