Great first half. Wish we played better against UCLA. Great to see some of the Ducks playbook.
Going to be an exciting game
Can’t see how the Ducks lost by about half a hundred to Georgia. Perhaps they were still reeling from a couple of Utah beatdowns, but they seem to be getting back to top form now.
Not one to look ahead, but Oregon is going to be tough to beat, especially at their place.
Yeah, they will have all sorts of revenge motivation against us as well.
Doubly so.
Worries me too. They appear to have a strong running game and we have just looked a little too shaky in the run defense department this year. But…many didn’t think we’d throttle them the second time last year either.
Stars (and a beverage of your choice) for using the word “throttle.”
I’m glad KW and Scalley have time to review the video from the Oregon-UCLA game. The Oregon running game was pretty effective against UCLA, and our defense against the run hasn’t been consistent this season. I have faith in KW’s ability to get the guys ready.
Oregon’s O-line is next level. We’re going to have to get some stops/turnovers, while playing flawlessly on offense. Its going to be really tough.
Wondering: How do Whitt/Scalley prepare for an OL that is more talented than any other they’ve played against?
We’ll, here’s some info about fixing the defense.
I remember the “Circus” defense used to neutralize O-lines pretty effectively.
Maybe the Circus goes to Oregon?
What is the circus defense? I am not remembering that.
Circus is lining up 8 in the box, all basically in non set positions, and rushing the line with different people so the line can’t assign who they will block. It’s how Krueger was dropped back, picked off the BYU QB, and got tackled by a turf monster with nobody between him and the endzone.
Kyle coined the name years ago.
Thank you! (Not only for the information but also for the memory from one of my all-time favorite games in RES.)
BTW, I have never forgiven the turf monster for that totally uncalled-for meddlesome act. A pick-six would have been so glorious, and I have it on good authority that Krueger was living right both on and off the field. He deserved magic to happen.
Unfortunately it was also the Beck to Harline defense…
Too soon…
Yes, the one that resulted in Harline standing all by himself in the end zone, and getting hero credit for such an easy catch. I remember Todd Christensen babbling like a teenage girl about Beck’s tremendous arm strength on that play. In hindsight it’s so…zoob.
