THE HARBINGER AND THE FALL OF NIGHT:
More to come in time! But this entire new story arc that began 1.5 years ago or so, has reinvigorated interest in the story, and the introduction of quality of life improvements, major revamps of many old systems, and at long last after 20 year the Player Housing people have ben screaming about… all enter the game. And 16 years of play come sept 11, It helps fire me up too!
I was late to the MMO party but have at least dabbled with every major player. My main is (well, was) Final Fantasy XIV, in which I have nearly 2,500 hours logged. I have hundreds of hours in ESO, Guild Wars 2, KOTOR. Hell, even utter schlock like Neverwinter and Tera got a few months of play.
But the one MMO that I’ve never been able to get into after SO many attempts is WoW. Which is weird because I actually really like the lore and the art style. But every time I try to play I end up get bored and wander off. Maybe it’s because I often feel lost in game (because I started so late) and have found the community to be pretty toxic and unhelpful to newcomers. For every person who answers a question, you’re liable to get a half dozen “f*ck u, noob” responses.
I resub again every year or two hoping it’ll finally click, but it never does.
both Carolina Cycle Uta and I are players - though he focuses on th CLassic iterations.
I am a guild leader that got defaulted into that role because of the mass inactivity and boycotts in the wake of the BFA fatigue, Shadowland story disaster, and the massive sexual harassment cases against the Bro Culture at Blizzard.
I am now with the help of 2 other old timers who are playing again, are managing to bring in other older players who needed someone in common to help them resurface for all the cool new story and features. We old farts (35- 70) tend to clump together and help each other, since this oyunger ave or two grew up wiht no disicpline or courtesy thanks to the smartphone age of anonymity.
If you ever feel like poking nose back in, please make sure to get in contact. The server situation is nearly unlimited in joining folks together, and since I have it in my budget (I specifially set aside $$ to help people get active again, swap facitons, etc) I’d even gladly donate to help you swap servers if necesary. The other two aides to my august magnificence are often on at different times than me, so it’s rare there;s NO ONE around to ask. I play all classes and level all professions each expansion, so I can help make gear and consumables for other players.

Very cool, and I will definitely ping you if/when I give it another shot. I’ve always thought that it might click if I managed to find some folks who could actually help me figure some things out, but I’m mostly a solo player by nature and don’t group all that often.
Gotta wrap up my replay of Baldur’s Gate 3 first though. I just started Act 3 so it…might be a minute.
oh, I hav e played 95 of my 16 years alone -0 in the first 4 or so there were RL people in Utah to play wiht, but they all moved in in life or got bored. as Im single, disabled, and now retired, I have nowhere else for all that time and energy to go.
Most of you saw me commenting over the 3 years I was stuck in a Rehab Nursing Home, and I promise this game (WOW) and Diablo III were what kept me sane.
