My AC crapped out

Alright my super experienced and knowledgeable friends…recommendations on insulation installation? With all the HVAC contractors giving me quotes for new systems, I’ve discovered I have next to zero insulation in my attic. Suggestions?

Call the gas company see if you qualify for free insulation help.

We added about 2 feet of blown insulation in our attic and walls. Since we put Hardy board up to replace very old insulation over 2 other layers of shingle etc, it was easy to blow insulation in from the outside and not damage the interior walls/pain. We also added 3/4 insulation boarding under the new Hardy Board.
We found about 30 old or active hornets nest under the old aluminum siding

I had a lot of insulation added to my house when we did a major remodel about 15 years ago, and it’s been very well worth it (we have a 1926 house about a mile south of the U) and with the upgrades to heating and air conditioning and insulation we’ve saved a lot of money and been a lot more comfortable.

I was not at all happy with my general contractor, and he’s no longer with us, so I have no way to get the name of the sub he used to do the insulation work.

I’ll ask a few friend tomorrow and see if anyone has any recommendations.

I do know someone in Southern Idaho who does this work, and is from Utah; if he has any ideas of a reputable contractor I’ll pass it along.

I ended up going with Heavenly Heating & Cooling as they had a very competitive quote AND they had a contractor who will blow in insulation to my attic at a killer deal. Thank you all for your fantastic suggestions. Black Diamond was pretty damn close on the quote. I had a guy recommended by my linemen buddies who came in really low, but his quote was very no frills.

Thank You Thank You Thank You

Glad you found someone who was offering a reasonable deal. I never did hear from the guy who did mine in Southern Idaho :frowning:
