Misunderstood Song Lyrics

We could probably start a whole thread about misunderstood song lyrics…thank you Eute

I’ll start with Stevie Nicks Stand Back of which I thought was Sand Bag. Way back in the day when State Street was the flooded river, and I thought it was sure nice of her to dedicate a song to our Salt Lake City plight to the great spring flood. It was embarrassing to be corrected.

Of course the all time misunderstood lyric:

Rapped up like a douche

I would say that I misunderstood the lyrics to “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen, but really I just didn’t understand them at all.

I have to turn my head and tell my dog to go.

(Edit to say: Mick Jagger might single handedly own this category.)

I always thought it was weird the Beatles sang about when the girl with colitis goes by.

And when Jimi Hendrix sang he wanted to kiss this guy.

Took me a minute to figure that one out… Boy I never heard anything but what they actually sang in this case.

Edit to say: Hell, I was what, 12, I knew what a kaleidoscope was, but colitis, not so much. Plus, context for heaven sake?!

Not sure. I think the actual line is “Revved up like a deuce”

Just a bit of trivia, when Springsteen wrote the lyrics “revved up like a deuce” he was paying homage to the Beach Boys song, Little Deuce Coupe.
