On Fox13
Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Whittingham is expected to be with the Wolverines for their Citrus Bowl matchup against Texas on Dec. 31, the same day Utah is scheduled to face Nebraska in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Scalley is going to have a rough few weeks. :frowning:

Plan on next year another in an endless and rapid cycle of rebuilding years. And not like the ones from 5-10–20 years ago.

Sigh

I’m not a conspiracist by any means, but Sherrone Moore was fired on December 10 and Whittingham resigned on December 12 (but not retiring). Do you think Michigan contacted Whittingham prompting the resignation? I’m probably inventing stuff.

Double sigh. I imagine the Zoobs are partying.

Doubt it. They likely lose Hill. Most of them agree he’s more important than Sitake

If Hill goes, he could take a position coach or two with him, along with some players.

What makes everyone think Hill will go with him? I’m just curious. Because if TDS gets hurt by this, it’ll take away some of the pain.

Hill played for Whit, and he coached under him for 10 years. It would make a lot of sense. But knowing Utah’s luck and BYU’s recent good fortune, he will stay.

I’m happy for Kyle but like others here, I have some worries. (About current star coaches, players, and recruits, mostly.) I wish Kyle would not do this.

Well, he’s got to succeed at his new job, so he is going to do what’s best for him and Michigan.

I get the feeling it will be longer than a few weeks. I hope that I’m wrong, but something tells me to start detaching myself more from the school.

It’s interesting to note former players are supportive of Kyle but also supportive and excited for Scalley.

I think most of them respect both, but are excited for a move ā€œforwardā€

I also think it’s interesting to note recruiting this year was a bit different, and by all accounts Scalley was far more involved.

I really hope this is true and that Scalley keeps Beck and his key players. If Beck leaves I have a very bad feeling…OCs and Utah just seem like a cursed pairing for some reason.

Maybe just OCs and Kyle

Too bad cycling is broadcast more here in the States.

Scalley was involved in bringing Beck to Utah, it was ostensibly part of the ā€œcoach in waitingā€ thing. If Beck goes, there are other OCs out there. For all we know, Scalley found Beck while Whit was skiing.

Morgan will definitely have a busy few weeks, but college football is a business, and Utah is quite well capitalized. Scalley’s a helluva recruiter, and now he’s got a serious checkbook.

Joey McGuire at Texas Tech was coaching HS football before the 2022 season. Money is what makes the biggest difference. Morgan’s going to be fine. I’ll be in Vegas to welcome in the Morgan Scalley era.

(EDIT - I really do hope Congress gets ahold of NIL and gives some enforcement power to the NCAA or somebody with some teeth. As collegiate salaries start to disrupt the NFL, I think pressure will mount. The current path is unsustainable. Even Whittingham said as much, this year. lol)

Any word on how much filthy lucre UM is going. To throw at Whit? At this point I hope it’s an insane amount.
