Lawn care

had a guy come out to fix my lawnmower today, he gave my Toro the last rites and pronouced it dead. I apparently also paid for a short lecture about “if you maintain these machines properly they can last 20-30 years”, (which was an odd lecture considering he knew my mower was 25+ years old).

Anyway, any lawn mower recommendations? Anyone had a good experience with an electric mower?

Have an Ego mower, things been amazing so far (this’ll be the 4th season with it).

yup. I’m also an electric guy, and just bought an Ego this year.

I just bought an Ego this spring after my tired old gas mower wore out and really dig it. Starts with the push of a button, single charge of the battery lasts a long time, and it is nice and quiet. Ego seems to be the popular brand, our neighbor behind us has one too.

I have a toro electric. Love it

I’ve been using the Greenworks 80v mower, weed trimmer, power edger, cultivator, and chainsaw.

They all work great.

I don’t mean to hi-jack the thread sweetgrass, but I’ve got guys coming over on Saturday to re-weedbarrier my flower beds and put down river rock. I’m so excited about going almost weedless I could almost smoke a cigarette like Anne Bancroft in The Graduate. Yeah…that excited.

Just glad I went xeriscape on the front yard 4 years ago. Less to mow with just the backyard, but still a decent amount of mowing. Have been using an electric mower of some sort since I bought my first house in Fort Worth in 2005. Now, after moving back to Utah, still going with electric – will never go back to gasoline.

Even better.

Just bought a higher end Riobi Lawn mower and think it’s great. quiet as a church mouse. 2 blades do an above average mulching. Not going back.

Another vote for going all electric. We have a greenworks from Costco and a Mondale. Both 80volts. Cordless have been a life changer.

Sometimes, I remember the gas or electric having more power, but the gas is killing the planet and now, I trim more because I don’t need to uncoil and recoil a hundred feet of cord for a little lawn blemish

Had an Ego for 3-4 years now and would never go back to a a Honda even though I loved it at the time.

Good stuff. Thanks to my leaky gas water heater, just replaced it with a hybrid heat pump electric water heater. Along with my installed solar panel system, look forward to further moving away from fossil fuel.

Don’t think there’s anything that’s environmentally “friendly”, but I’ll do my best to do the least amount of damage.

While it takes energy (either from plugging in the charger to replenish the battery or gasoline) one way or the other, at least the electric lawn care machines are nice and quiet. Wish more of my neighbors had them.
