Jazz by the numbers

You know Mitchell is the X Factor. The Jazz are fine if he’s back next game

Jazz were rusty after a week off against a team that had the momentum of 2 must win games to earn the 8th spot.

In the NCAA tourney, if my team is projected to be about 5/6 seed, the last thing I want is to see them matched against a ‘first four’ winner. Over the years, about half those games are won by the lower seed. At least here it isn’t one game and you are done. This is just the start of a best of 7 series.

It’s funny to those who think Utah Jazz fans are racist in general.

Those who are the (easy) target of a joke rarely think it’s funny.

Oh it’s one of those bigotry answering bigotry things, I get it, hilarious.

Calling people out for wearing white isn’t bigotry. Stop being silly. It’s funny that they chose a “White Out” for a team who’s colors aren’t really “white.”

If someone is looking to blame the loss on something, the performance reminded me of a game the Malone-Stockton team played in Chicago where the fans rocked signs “The Mailman never Delivers on Sunday.”

They didn’t that day.

My deal is I’m confused why anti racism doesn’t apply to all forms of racially motivated speech. I also don’t understand why the jokes I posted to illustrate my point got removed while other racist remarks are allowed. If some Jazz fans are racist it is because they are racist, being white has nothing to do with it. Such insinuation and even worse direct accusations being tolerated seems to be motivated by people’s apathy towards an obvious form of bigotry.

It all makes me feel like we haven’t progressed but are only in the process of replacing one target of racism for another. It’s kinda like the time I took up chewing Tobacco to get off the cigarettes.

To put it more simply, I just don’t respect double standards and hypocrisy. Either racism is off limits or it’s not. I can adjust to either standard but not both.

Zoobs are the only acceptable target for derogatory remarks. Them, and Unitarians.

I am appalled at the lack of sensitivity and humanity - is this really who we are as Ute Fans? As humans?

I’m just generally an insensitive person. Don’t need to read too much into it.

…and he calls me moose, what a jack ■■■.

I’m definitely that but I don’t complain about reverse racism over a joke about a white out. That says quite a bit.

My problem in this instance is not with racism but with people who approve of some forms of racism while rejecting others. I’ve made that pretty clear and you’re either pretending to not understand that position or it’s not as clear as I thought it was.

My joke about BYU and Jazz fans touches more on race as a culture (which is very real) and less on racial discrimination (which should be eliminated). I do realize the lines can blur quite a bit and that it’d be better to not try to go up to those boundaries of appropriateness.

Just ask yourself, would I tow this line if the joke was about any other race?
For example, if Grambling University was having a black out game would you make the same joke? If you would than you’re not a racist you just like distasteful jokes. It’s all so simple, choose a standard, any standard you like, then live up to it.

Grambling isn’t known for being a racist fan base. Also, choosing to wear all white is a reminder of the klan. There are levels to this you obviously do not get. You are too inside the bottle to read the label.
