Is KU the perfect setup for a "let down" game? NOW GAME THREAD

The Mrs says that’s the same as leaving a game early.

These last two games…hard to believe we won.

Was there a fuzball game today?

Not anything I want to call a game. But at least a 10 win season.

Now can we please please please win the cheese dip bowl or whatever

I’m not sure when Scalley decided we were going to be a bend-don’t-break defense… but I’ll take it!

The 2 biggest plays of the game were Scooby’s pick 6, and Dampier-Simmons on 3 & 5. When Devon couched down like he was going to run it, everyone on the back end of their D bought it, then it was just simple execution.

Buchanon’s TD and Bennee’s EZ pick solid runners up on plays of the game.

Credit to KU for bringing it on a super-Senior Day for Daniels and Hishaw to try and get in a bowl.

Character win today, no matter what else happens.

If anyone told me we’d be a 10 win team this year, I would have thought they were nuts.

OK guys, I can’t deny that I deserve the credit for this win. I had to put my phone down to charge it, and all the good things happened after that. You’re welcome.

I wonder if Bray is a little banged up. He hasn’t been used as much or as dynamic as he was earlier.

Well barring a miracle (and aside from an upcoming Holiday or Vegas scrimmage, errr bowl game), that’s a pretty much a wrap on the season. I’m assuming Whitt’s gone… what are everyone’s feelings about next season?

I’ll offer one thing that some may not agree with.. I think the O-line has a chance to be really good again. Also it sounds like there’s a good chance we get both Dampier and Ficklin back. Defense, I dunno…

If we can keep our current players (big if) and add a transfer or two, we could be pretty good next year.

With the only two losses being against top 12 teams. And we were in both games until the 4th Q.

Thats not elite (I don’t know that Utah ever gets back to elite without a sugar daddy donor) but is a pretty damn successful year.

It’s hard to predict with the portal and NIL. If (Big if) it starts with retaining 1 or both of Dampier and Byrd, retaining Parker, the guys who aren’t exhausting eligibility on defense. Picking up some DL, DE and TE help in the portal and probably a receiver. I think we will have a better idea after the portal season ends.

Sorry, but that honor goes to SkinyUte’s bio break.

Hard to know. I think everyone’s a little banged up this time of year.

I think it’s about defenses learning how to shut down the jet sweep, and us already having a bruiser up the middle. Parker was one of those rare specimens who could take serious shots and shake them off like they were nothing.

Hopefully we keep Bray and he puts on 10-15 lbs.

I’ve been really impressed by how Beck used the resources available.

Probably partly due to his lower leg injury, but Dampier wasn’t elite in the throw game and we didn’t have a Carrington-like target that could bale out bad throws. And we had that OL + another 1-2 guys to bring in, so it was a run-heavy offense with more QB runs than you would want, if Byrd didn’t emerge.

Dampier at UNM had equal TDs and INTs, this year he was 19 & 5, for 1927 yards, along with another 637 on the ground. Really impressive, considering the step up & the priority on not turning it over.

At receiver, Ryan Davis was an unexpected stud, Bentley really showed well with 38 / 485. Buchanon showed what might be coming, Larry Simmons came into his own in an impressive way, and Whittemore more than answered the call.

The OL made it all possible. That has to an emphasis for recruiting and NIL.

Hats off to Jason Beck.

Agreed completely.

I have to admit, I am nervous about the coming offseason. I have to assume he will be on the short list of almost every program that needs a new oc and that could very well include bigger programs than us.

It’s a win. I’ll take it. Now a nice post-Christmas Bowl Game would be a good way to end the season.

Most bowl projections have the Utes in the Vegas bowl vs. Iowa or Missouri

Our hopes of an at large bid were already on the fritz but I think Texas beating A&M by a comfortable margin makes them 0 for all intents and purposes. Everyone that was team playoff was hoping for either an ND loss to Stanford or a bama loss to Auburn or a BYU loss to UCF. Now we likely need 2 of 3, if not all 3.

But I am on team “lets focus on the bowl game and if this is it for Whitt, send him out with a W!”
