Most of the tech stuff is correct but a lot of the cultural part is head scratching to say the least. It reads as mostly stereotypes or outright fabrications. The article also widely overplays the influence of BYU and underplays the role of the U. If anything my experience in the tech world in Utah over the past 10 years is that the roles are actually reversed. Certainly that is the case for employees. There may be more CEOs from BYU but the guys actually doing the work are all Utah alums.

My wife and I both work in Silicon Slopes. Both of our companies supply ‘fancy coffee’ (and mine supplies soft drinks) but neither one of them has frozen yogurt.
Would say there are significantly more Utah fans/alumni than BYU fans/alumni in my office.

When I read it my first thought was that the writer was pretty lazy and didn’t talk to many people.

I didn’t know that East Provo was that into tech or tech incubators. The last time I checked we owned that ■■■■ in a big way…a VERY BIG WAY.
All I took away from this article was the author did his homework on Wiki and Facepalm. Yes, the LDS culture influences businesses that open or move here. Like anyplace you go in America, the local community and its influencers affect things. That said, LDS culture does not equal TDS. That space is a bubble unto its own.
I concur with some of the earlier discussion, it was a lazy report.
