If you went by the fcs model top 8 get a bye. 16Miami(Oh) would play @11Utah with the winner playing @1LSU after LSU had a bye.

I don’t hate the FCS model but it’s 10 Champs and 14 at large if implemented on this level. So, let’s see what that could look like:

10 Conference Champs and 14 at large teams:

  1. LSU
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Oklahoma
  5. Georgia at-large
  6. Oregon
  7. Baylor at-large
    8.Wisconsin at-large
  8. Florida at-large
  9. Penn State at-large
  10. Utah at-large
  11. Auburn at-large
  12. Alabama at-large
  13. Michigan at-large
  14. Notre Dame at-large
  15. Iowa at-large
  16. Memphis
  17. Minnesota at-large
  18. Boise State
  19. Appalachian State
  20. Cincinnati
  21. Southern Cal
  22. FAU
  23. Miami of Ohio

Game 1- 17. Memphis vs. 16. Iowa at Iowa City
Game 2- 24. Miami of Ohio vs. 9. Florida at Gainesville
Game 3- 20. Appalachian State vs. 13. Alabama at Tuscaloosa
Game 4. 21. Cincinnati vs. 12. Auburn at Auburn
Game 5. 18. Minnesota vs. 15. Notre Dame at South Bend
Game 6. 23. FAU vs. 10. Penn State at Happy Valley
Game 7. 19. Boise State vs 14. Michigan at Ann Arbor
Game 8. 22. Southern Cal vs. 11. Utah at Salt Lake City

Game 9. Game 1 Winner at 1. LSU at Baton Rouge
Game 10. Game 2 Winner at 8. Wisconsin at Madison
Game 11. Game 3 Winner at 4. Oklahoma at Norman
Game 12. Game 4 Winner at 5. Georgia at Athens
Game 13. Game 5 Winner at 2. Ohio State at Columbus
Game 14. Game 6 Winner at 7. Baylor at Waco
Game 15. Game 7 Winner at 3. Clemson at Clemson
Game 16. Game 8 Winner at 6. Oregon at Eugene

Game 17: Game 9 winner vs. Game 10 winner NRG Stadium, Houston (2024 Champ site)
Game 18: Game 11 winner vs. Game 12 winner Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis (2022 Champ site)
Game 19: Game 13 winner vs. Game 14 winner Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens (Orange)
Game 20: Game 15 winner vs Game 16 winner Rose Bowl, Pasadena

Game 21: Game 17 winner vs. Game 18 winner Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta (Peach)
Game 22: Game 19 winner vs. Game 20 winner State Farm Stadium, Glendale (Fiesta)

Championship: Game 21 winner vs. Game 22 winner Mercedes Benz Superdome, New Orleans (Sugar)

I don’t hate it. Add another week of on Campus games. You still can keep lower-tiered bowls for those outside Top 25.

Utah’s Championship run would be
Game 1- USC at Home
Game 2- Oregon at Eugene
Game 3- Boise State, Michigan or Clemson at Rose Bowl
Game 4- Ohio State, Baylor, FAU, Penn State, Minnesota, Notre Dame at Fiesta
Game 5- Championship At Sugar

So we would face Oregon again? No thanks. One time was ugly enough.

I don’t want a 16 team playoff, but I’d love an Oregon rematch.

Pansies

Nothing to do with “pansies”. We leave that to the SEC who play four Division 3 teams per year and rarely leave the region. It’s about seeing enough of Oregon to think They beat us 10-10 times.

There is a ton of randomness and chaos in this sport. Sometimes a team grabs momentum and things fall apart.

We were within 1 score in the 4th quarter (or late 3rd?). We gave up more rushing yards than we did all season. Could that be different in a rematch? We didn’t expect Herbert to come out running. Could that be different in a rematch? We lost our starting safety, and it really cost us. That would be different in a rematch as well.

Shoot, if we just convert our first 4th and 1, the game has a completely different trajectory.

False argument considering the future Schedule of Alabama compared to Utah.

You are arguing future schedules? The future schedules can change, certainly. But none of that has happened yet. Let’s talk about the SEC’s tendencies as they already exist. Since you are a Bama fan, go take a look at their OOC over the last ten years. Usually one tough game, if that…but always at a neutral site, followed by three absolute cupcakes. That is the SEC.

Wait, playing neutral site games against P5 team to open the season the past 10 years is weak? How about their road trips to Penn State & Duke. Not our fault Notre Dame cancelled the Home and Home either. You do realize it’s common for the Utes to schedule a FCS team as well? Playing teams from Sun Belt and CUSA that are bowl teams is always called weak but many of those same teams have pulled upsets.

Let’s not act like Alabama is the issue here nor the topic of this conversation. You are trying to divert from the fact you have zero faith your team couldn’t beat Oregon. I think the Utes win 7 out of 10 against Oregon this season
