I wonder how Pepsi feels about this?

BIG 12 ANNOUNCES MONSTER ENERGY AS ENTITLEMENT PARTNER OF FOOTBALL AND BASKETBALL REGULAR SEASONS

During the regular season, Big 12 football and men’s and women’s basketball will be branded as Monster Energy Big 12 Football and Monster Energy Big 12 Basketball for all Conference controlled assets and platforms. A co-branded Monster Energy and Big 12 Conference logo will be featured on football and basketball jerseys, fields and courts, with additional integration across Conference digital and social media channels.

Since Coca Cola owns a 19.5 percent stake in Monster (not to mention 100 percent of its distribution), I think it’s fair to say they are not very happy with this.

Since the Pepsi deal they had with the U has been going on for about 10 years now, what we are seeing could be the first step in a full transition back to Coke.

I have to wonder how the Otro Capital people feels about this. The sale of a jersey patch by the conference would seem to infringe on the ability of Crimson Brand Partners to package, market and control the University of Utah brand.

I don’t know the details of the contract the U has with the conference, but I think Yormark may have overstepped with this move.

*Edit
Just did a quick search on jersey patch valuations for major college schools and it seems they average over $4 million annually, with some schools up to $12 million. If the Monster deal is for $20 million split 16 ways, not counting a share for the conference, it would seem Yormark is shortchanging many schools.

I would prefer Chicos Bail Bonds.

Excellent reference to one of the best movies ever.

Many schools have announced their own uniform patch deals, including BYU and a few other BIG12 schools. Haven’t heard a peep about anything Utah is looking at.

Boise St just announced a deal with Progressive for a field logo and other promotions. It appears Progressive has deals with USC, Oregon, Kansas and others. Maybe the new Boise mascot will be Flo.

I can’t stand the Potato Zoobs, but this hand painted helmet for their season opener is FIRE.

I have seen on Reddit that BYU is doing something called the “Cougar Fan Experience”? It looks like they will be charging to shake Kilani’s hand ($1000?) and high five a player ($100+?) as well as arrange a Cosmo visit to your seat during a game ($3000+?). Can anyone confirm this? Are they hard up for funds?

Please Crimson Brand Partners, do NOT do this. It demeans the coaches, players, as well as fans and literally looks like you are whoring yourself out for the almighty buck.

Progressive!?!?!?!

Seriously!

If they become a sponsor of the Utes, or for that matter any of the other automobile insurance vendors in thier (insanely stupid) advertising class, that one action alone will be the final death kneel for what is becoming an unjustifiably and ridiculously expensive past time; personal attendance of college football.

This year is fairly likely my last, anyway, simply because of the ridiculous price increases. I can still afford them, but I’m increasingly significantly less likely to consider it worth the increase, or reasonable.

If, on top of that, I have to put up with our Utes being sponsored by any of the following, or God forbid, actually listening to and watching their ads on the screens in the stadium during games (if they’re sponsors, you ■■■■■■■ know this is the next step), well that is a bridge WAY TOO FAR!!!

Progressive,
Liberty Mutual,
GEICO,
AllState
and to a slightly lesser degree, “Jake at State Farm”.

Their ad campaigns are offensive, mindless, and SO prevalent, and I refuse to purchase any insurance policy from an agent who tries to sell me one from any of these vendors.

For $6000 you can get a lap dance from Cosmo, for an extra grand, you can do a non alcoholic Jell-O shot off his belly !

I could be ok with Dr. Rick guiding new home owners to navigate our tailgate lot, though.

Utah has MLM advertisers now. I’d much rather have a legitimate indus… nevermind, you’re right.

I would be okay with this, but only if we could get the GEICO cavemen as our exclusive mascots.

Monster has sponsored things for years.

Monster Energy Supercross etc etc

The deal was dumb financially

But im a bit tired of the bubble wrap everything idea.

(Also having worked at a hospital and spent a lot of
Time in working with the ER the last 20 years, I’m
Curious if these doctors know what keeps the ER open at night)
