I found out tonight Costco is selling mochi bites

Over the years, when I visited Magna’s Sister City, we made mochi as a part of a social dinner party. The mochi we made was filled with berries from the time of the season. It was a fun snack, but not overly sweet.

The stuff we just got from Costco had flavored ice cream in it, and it was a lot sweeter than the Mochi I helped make in Japan. To the question…

Did they just Americanize Mochi?

Yes, yes they did. I always liked eating freshly toasted mochi with a little shoyu and nori.

The mochi I ate wasn’t toasted, but the mountain berries inside were very nice.
