I did not have this on my 2025 bingo card

I suppose time heals all things, or at least covers them over with dirt and stuff.

Given all the ties all pro sports have to gambling now, it’s kinda hypocritical to not lift their bans. Then again, Pete bet on his own team. That alone should have kept him banned.

The evidence used to a Shoeless Joe Jackson was weak at best. They should’ve lifted his ban long ago.

If either or both end up in the HOF, there controversies need to be noted in their information, especially Rose.

I’ve noticed baseball commentators more frequently comparing some of the best current hitters to Barry Bonds.

Seems like half of baseball was on the juice back then, and Bonds was unquestionably an A$$, but man, that guy could hit. It was freaky watching their games.

Bases loaded, Bonds at the plate… intentional walk. I remember seeing numerous pitches where with the pitch coming in, you knew Bonds was going to put it in the bay, then the next scene was the kayakers trying to get to the ball first.

They need to figure out how to get the greats from that era honored. Clemons, McGuire, Sosa, Bonds…even Lenny Dykstra. (He went to the pen for being an idiot, but he had his moment, and he was a funnyman.)

At least the precedent is that they are eligible only after death. So, it doesn’t necessarily just open up the floodgates.

All those like Sosa, Bonds, Canseco, Rose, Jackson … should all be noted and/ or eligible… With very prominent symbols next to their names indicating the type of infraction.

Because, bluntly speaking, people like Ruth and Cobb would absolutely be guilty of some type of infraction today. And we certainly acknowledge their records etc today

Both would’ve been busted for alcoholism and their abuse of women.

Let’s not bicker and argue about who killed who…

You are not kidding. Roided Barry was a witch. He did not swing and miss. He did not even swing and hit the ball poorly. If he swung, he smoked a hard line drive. It might go foul, get caught in the outfield, or go yard. He had an amazing eye for taking balls or hitting strikes.

No one has compared to roided Barry during my time watching baseball. I don’t know what it was like to see the old timers like Mantle or Ruth.

It was weird watching how Bonds could wait until the last millisecond as the pitch was coming in. He walked more than anyone else because there was almost no guesswork - he only swung at pitches he could hit.

It really was unfair, but he was an MVP before he was juicing, he was already a great player, would have hit 500 homers. On the juice he was a machine.

Baseball finally got around to testing in large part because of Barry Bonds.

Then at age 35 his head and feet grew three sizes. He suddenly had a huge melon, big feet, and hit the ball like a cyborg. Good times.
