This is purely news, albeit with a religious bent.

We have a new Pope, Pope Leo XIV from Chicago. The first Pope from the United States.

This is big news, both Internationally, and religiously. I know exactly nothing about our new Pope. I pray that he can lead the faithful, well, faithfully. I didn’t not expect this news today, that we have a new Pope. I expected this in another day or 2, but hurray, we have a new Holy Father.

My Catholic friends are all wearing their red shoes today. I hope the new pope can be a man of peace and peaceful coexistence.

All indications are that he is very much like Francis, and has spent 20 + years of doing missionary and other work in Peru. Augustinian friar/priest, another mendicant order
