Mount Van Cott is now a very well formed cajun Hershey’s kiss. The fire’s now 500 acres, it’s been an airshow of at least two MD-80 tankers back and forth to Ogden all day. (A short trip, lotta flights, I stopped counting.)
From the window near one of the patients, rooms. Little too close for comfort, but the patient said, there were wildland & firefighting folks standing 4-6 feet apart all the way across the hill, holding the line.
I ride my road bike to Big Mountain summit (by way of Emigration) many times each summer. I’m guessing each will be warmer, and stinkier, than usual this year. But what the hell, you can not beat that ride down, regardless of what it takes going up
In Northern Sanpete County, I can see the outline of the mountains surrounding our house, but nothing more than that. Everybody is being advised to stay inside today and minimize time outdoors. Lots of particulate in the air. none of the fires are in the valley. All of this is coming over the hills from Nephi and Eureka.Ugh.
I’ve ridden that trail part way from each end, and then back, but never did the whole thing one way. I’ve been meaning to for years. Perhaps (if I can get back to town long enough from my house and projects in Paris, ID, sometime this summer), this is the year
I saw someone advocating on video that all fireworks be banned in Utah until further notice. I think that. makes a lot of sense to me. The whole doggone state is a tinder box right now. What do you all say?
I agree about the fireworks. Unfortunately, we have learned all too well in the last ten years that there are a lot of folks who don’t give a damn about anyone else but themselves. And they don’t want to be deprived of their pyromania.
