Finally the year we give up our season tickets

Well, it finally happened.

Between having to take a 50% pay cut after my business got wiped out by Elon/DOGE, the ongoing ticket price increases, my waning interest in college sports in general due to NIL and transfer portal nonsense, and basically having zero time on weekends due to kid’s activities, we decided that this is the year that we finally will be giving up the Utah season tickets we’ve had since 2004. I just can’t justify paying $3K to get the whole family to one or maybe two games a season. I’ve ended up simply giving away between 2-5 tickets for nearly every game the past couple years, and while I’ve really loved making someone’s day with free tickets, I’m just not in a position to do that any more.

I’d really love for them to go to a good home, so if anyone here at UFN wants them, hit me up before the renewal deadline on April 15. It’s 5 seats, section N21, seats 1-5. Northwest corner of the NEZ, and I would argue they’re some of the best seats in the house. They’re right up against the concourse so there’s no one sitting behind us. If no one here wants them, I’m just going to not renew so they’ll go to someone on the waiting list.

I’m sure we’ll still get up to a game or two each season (you can always get a couple tickets online), but the full season investment for 5 seats is just too much. Sucks, but them’s the breaks.

Won’t get into any divisive issues (as our fan base is very diverse with a wide variety of belief systems and political viewpoints) but hope things start getting better for you.

Also hope you fully enjoy times with your family activities (which should be of the highest importance of any of us).

My mother has had season tickets to Ute games since 1969 when she moved with her parents to SLC from Idaho. That’s 55 seasons of Ute games. The increase was finally too much, and she’s done. I can’t afford to buy them off her either. Pretty sad. But some things are far more important than college sports.

Why dont you keep the tickets and put up the season on KSL? That way you wont lose your place in line if you want to renew in the future. I have friends who have done that when they cant use their tickets for a year.

Thought about it and may still do that.

I’ve been hesitant because dealing with selling anything online sucks. Every time I’ve tried to sell tickets, I’ve been inundated by scammers, wheelers, dealers, people backing out at the last minute, the “will you sell your $3,000 tickets for $150” people etc., etc. I kinda hate it.

Also, selling them would mean that I’d have to pay for at least half of the cost up front (to keep them in my name) and with some major home repairs coming up, that wouldn’t be the best thing in the world.

There is a ticket group on FB that I’m a member of, and I may put them up on there to see if there’s any takers.

Case in point. I posted my tickets on the Utah Tickets Exchange this morning. Within 20 minutes I had four people - all whom had created new FB profiles within the past 30 days, have never posted anything, have seemingly no connection to Utah, and who have very few connected friends - reach out letting me know they wanted to buy my tickets.

I’d say the chances of all of them being scammers is probably around 50/50. SMH
