Love that quote.
Albert Einstein Quotes: Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.
I’ve spent the majority of the last 4 decades writing software, trying to remember to use this as my primary design goal.
And here I have spent a lifetime trying to avoid developing processes that weren’t GIGO.

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.”
This quote has been attributed to a lot of people, so no way of knowing who actually said it. But it is one of the most powerful quotes of all time.
“I wrote that”

“The future ain’t what it used to be.”
–Yogi Berra
(Did you know Yogi lived to the age of 90 and won 3 MVP awards during his career?)
“Abraham Lincoln said it best: ‘Just because it’s on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s true.’”

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”
― Mark Twain
I remember when Lou Reed died. Coincidentally, I was wearing my Velvet Underground t-shirt that day. Lou Reed has been a big player in my life. Much like Bowie, I have come to admire the person he ultimately became. Every day I read through obituaries, and today I came across Lou’s, which was really a short message written by his wife. I really loved it and thought I share it here. Although it’s technically not a quote, I couldn’t think of anywhere else to post it.
"To our neighbors:
What a beautiful fall! Everything shimmering and golden and all that incredible soft light. Water surrounding us.
Lou and I have spent a lot of time here in the past few years, and even though we’re city people this is our spiritual home.
Last week I promised Lou to get him out of the hospital and come home to Springs. And we made it!
Lou was a tai chi master and spent his last days here being happy and dazzled by the beauty and power and softness of nature. He died on Sunday morning looking at the trees and doing the famous 21 form of tai chi with just his musician hands moving through the air.
Lou was a prince and a fighter and I know his songs of the pain and beauty in the world will fill many people with the incredible joy he felt for life. Long live the beauty that comes down and through and onto all of us.
— Laurie Anderson
his loving wife and eternal friend"
What a wonderful epitaph
She’s a quintessential artist
I loved Sharkey’s Night
I know she is quite talented and famous. Lou was very lucky. I was moved by her pure expression of love and friendship in the obit, although my words hardly do it justice. I’d hope someone might write something like that about me!
Not a quote, but a good line I just read
“…time slowly strengthened their sentiments while diluting their resolve.”
“Real isn’t how you are made,’ said the Skin Horse. ‘It’s a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.’
‘Does it hurt?’ asked the Rabbit.
‘Sometimes,’ said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. ‘When you are Real you don’t mind being hurt.’
‘Does it happen all at once, like being wound up,’ he asked, ‘or bit by bit?’
‘It doesn’t happen all at once,’ said the Skin Horse. 'You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.”
-The Velveteen Rabbit
“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.”
–– Winnie The Pooh.
“The very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. Instead of altering their views to fit the facts, they alter the facts to fit their views…which can be very uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.”
- Doctor Who
Very appropriate given the “very powerful and the very stupid” occupant of the White House.

“I buried Little Ann by the side of Old Dan. I knew that was where she wanted to be. I also buried part of my life along with my dog.”
