Fare Thee Well Cam

Nothing more to say except can we get Jackson back?
Why is Utah the black hole for QB’s? I’m fully on board for Wilson to develop this year, but do not think we should bring an 8 year QB back. Holy crap! People become tenure track professors in 8 years. If Cam really loves us, he can start being the best QB coach ever.
Nothing but love and affection for two Rose Bowls, indomitable spirit and world class hype videos.
IMHO

“I wish for Utah to play in the Rose Bowl!”

Cam was clearly rusty, then it got worse with a dinged wheel.

Just because of the demonstrated possibility of injury, I think you split the 1st team reps and make sure Isaac is ready to roll, but let Cam find his mojo. If we can’t beat TCU at home, we’re simply terrible and the season becomes about building for next year.

It’s never this easy, of course, but hopefully Isaac is feeling the game slow down, is knowing where he can go with the ball, how to better make sure the DBs can’t pick it off, etc.

As UTEopia said, we need to win the 8-10 difference making plays… then prep for going to Houston.

Rising officially done for the year and, I suspect, at Utah.

Sucky way for an Utah legend to go out.

That is an awful way to go out. But it begs the question: If Cam suffered a season-ending injury during the game, why in the world was he left in? That’s baffling, and it cost Utah the game, I think.

Wishful thinking maybe?

Regardless, I hope the team rallies around Wilson, and the D gets its mojo back.

My guess is that the coaching staff simply could not bring themselves to take him out again, early in the game. I’m not defending that, just thinking I saw it.

Who knows where the season would go if not for the cheap shot in the Baylor game ? Are the Utes 6-0 ? perhaps. All I know is that the team is 4-2, and there is no guessing as to who will lead the team going forward, which to me is a step in the right direction compared to the uncertainty of last year. The team now knows who will be at the helm, and that will perhaps be a stabilizing influence. I really thought with a healthy Cam, this team makes a deep run.
There will be growing pains with Wilson, but I truly believe they will rally and finish 9-3 , and go to a decent bowl game.
I will close my comment by saying thank you to Cam for laying it on the line for Utah football, , your balls out attitude and dedication to the program will be appreciated forever!!!

In the NFL, when players get injured, medical staff quickly assess them, often using X-ray at the stadium. Trainers, league officials (for concussions), and multiple team physicians are involved. Teams have well-developed depth, with players practicing over 50 hours a week. These athletes are multi-million dollar investments, similar to MLB and NBA players, with significant money riding on medical decisions.

In college, trainers and medical staff are still attentive, but players who’ve come back from multiple injuries, like Cam and Kuithe, often have a say in whether they continue playing unless it’s a clear concussion, ACL, or fracture. For example, Trevor Reilly played most of a season without an ACL, using a knee brace.

The NFL has less of a “warrior” mentality due to its depth and development, making it more of a plug-and-play league. Everyone is so talented, toughing it out often results in the other team exploiting the lack of athleticism. Players that come from the practice squad are often better prepared during the week than starters in college - it’s an overtime job.

Guessing it took an MRI to determine it was season ending. Obviously not something you can do during a game.

Many injuries that are season ending aren’t necessarily apparent during the game with adrenaline etc going.

Maybe so. Unfortunately, leaving him in cost Utah the game. Plus, the defense in the fourth quarter made Scattebo look like Walter Payton.
