Well, at least ESPN+ is recognized and folks can more or less find it.
From what I know the previous years the schools produced stuff such as that and it was carried in demand on ESPN +.
As long as we don’t end up playing Wednesday night games on the Ocho, we might be OK.
Well, soon the era of double entendre with regard to Oregon State will be over for the most part after this year.
They’re going to regret it in every way except financially. It’s going to kill their Olympic sorts unless they figure out how to keep the PAC going as a non-football/bb Athletic conference (I think this is a no-brainer way to keep the brand alive, it’s tragic to see it die)
There are numerous studies showing that the kind of extra-long distance traveling they’ll be doing has a negative impact on performance on the field.
Not dead yet….
FTFO!
Speaking of The Beavers…
Over the past 15 years or so I’ve flown, round trip, from Los Angeles to Washington or New York probably a couple of dozen times. There’s no way that trip isn’t going to take a lot out of anyone, even a young athlete. Their sleep (circadian rhythms) will be thrown off, their appetites will be disrupted, and their ability to stay in touch with people in a time zone three hours earlier than theirs will be disorienting and stressful. On top of that, those kids are probably expected to do some kind of schoolwork while traveling. I think it would be a nightmare to be a student athlete under those circumstances.
But let’s remember: For USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington it’s all about the student-athletes.
Pretty sad that anyone thinks this is funny…
I hope we pound em hard this year
No doubt. We got a more doable situation than the LA schools, UO and UW. More teams closer, no 3 time zone jumps.
This site goes into depth on EB jet lag (as opposed to travel fatigue, which also happens when you’re in the tube for 4-5 hours, even N/S trips) and mitigations:
Getting a handle on the sleep patterns of your athletes is important, though the mitigations are partial. We already saw at least one way we’ll handle EST travel: go two days early.
Les was obviously hoping that the hosts would lament the Utes being back to back PAC champs, then it went sideways on him
Hilarious. Of all the zoobish ideas I’ve ever heard…
The major refurbishment of Reser stadium complete, five games into the season and Utah being the first of the Pac-12 deserters against who they will be seeking revenge, the trip to Corvallis versus top 25 ranked Beavers could be one formidable challenge.
and Pitt
That BYU fan was stupid. But I am still sad to see Utah is no longer going to be playing USC/Oregon/Washington. Those were good games. Plus I like both teams that I cheer for being in different conferences this year.
It’s a good thing I don’t let ironic crap like USC making bad hire after bad hire being second probably only to the hiring of Champagne Larry as the reason the PAC died get under my skin…
Next time I see anyone in Trojan gear, they’re going to get a lecture with this level of righteous indignation and grief over murdering a conference that they owe everything to
Maybe this change will lead to a change in culture? And no it isn’t. Arizona voted for Biden
Guys, almost every university in the US that’s located in a red state is more liberal than its neighboring community. I don’t see any community’s overall political ideology affecting anything on the Big 12 playing field.
Except maybe in Utah…
Salt Lake County is a blue dot in a sea of red.
