Utes just missed nationals for the first time ever.
A coach left the program abruptly during the season with almost no information being provided.
I’ve yet to see any comment from anyone on the coaching staff about regionals.
Today, the U have head coach Carly Dockendorf an extension through 2031
Odd time for an extension to me.
Especially since the team did not not seem mentally tough this year and there was a lot of criticism of the routines and lineups.
Hope Bailey Stroud comes back and excels.
I saw something cryptic today that made me think the bars coach was forced out, but who knows.

The official reason was personal issues
The strange part was the first couple of meets he was missing Carly said she didn’t have anything to say.
That’s awful PR advice at best, and just covering things up at worse.
The PR staff for gymnastics could use some help (Michelle Bodkin is a reporter. Not a PR person)
There are lots of rumblings about staff issues, so I was surprised to not see more discussion about how to move forward.

We noticed the bars coach was not at a couple of meets and thought he might be sick.
I assume/hope that Carly has a plan to address the staffing issues, as well as recruiting/portal.
Pratt needed to go, it was the right decision by Carly. If we hadn’t started the season in a faceplant, we would have had a better seed and might not have missed. BUT when the nationals format changed in 2019? it was inevitable Utah’s streak would end.

Somebody posted on twitter that if NQS had been calculated the same way as last year, we wold have been seeded 8 instead of 12 and in an easier regional. Our 197.5 likely would have been good enough to make it. Oh well it was our own fault we were seeded 12.
