Just thought I’d share this piece that I found on cyclingnews.com.
I’ll be the 1st to admit, Froome is not my favorite rider. I think he’s a great talent, and has been a good ambassador of the sport of cycling. For whatever reason I just don’t care for him. That said, his crash last June at the Dauphine Libere, while scouting the time trial course was one of the worst that I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen a ton of bad ones, pro and amateur riders both.
Anyway, I never realized just how bad his injuries were. Let alone that he had had 3 surgeries to get to where he his today. In a way it reminded me of Alex Smith. But even from day 1 once Froome was stabilized, it was known that he COULD race again. Whereas Alex, may never play again. Now that Froome is back to racing the question is, can he win again? I suppose we’ll have to wait and see. It may be the differences in the 2 sports, American Football vs cycling that gives the difference in getting back to the upper echelons of the sport. Both have had great medical help, and seemingly good team support.
Ok, I’ll stop yammering. Here’s the link to the cyclingnews report on Froome. Hope he’s able to do well.
