that is generally true of almost any massive controversy like this. But neither side wants to take a chance they could be made to look foolish or even (gasp) WRONG.
I take it that someone else posted that CNN clip before I did.

I don’t say nice things to you often but I love this. Just watched Steve and Martin at the Santa Barbara Bowl back in June. Go see the show if you get the chance.
I agree. The absence of evidence is not the same thing as evidence of absence. At the very least, the sentiment expressed in this “upon further review” segment is premature until an independent investigation demonstrates that the young woman misheard (or worse). Until then, the rush to defend an institution that has a demonstrable problem with race and gender seems all too quick to dismiss the allegations of a Black woman. That’s a terrible look.
It’s just so weird how these allegations keep happening at BYU.
Oh well, I’m sure they’ll investigate themselves again and clear themselves of any wrongdoing.
Imagine if Oregon did a self investigation and cleared themselves of any wrongdoing. The uproar from down south would eclipse the high pitched screaming you hear from their male fans after a touchdown.
Where there’s smoke there’s, what? I forget that silly old saying.
Anyway I’m sure it’s like somebody else posted, they were probably just shouting “cougar”. Simple misunderstanding and we can all laugh about it now. ![]()
except they can’t make even this sort of ridiculous claim. The culprits wouldn’t heve been yelling “Stand up, cougars” to members of the opposing team… so there’s that to blow that out of the water! LOL I know you were being facetious, but hey, you’re not way out there in extrapolating such a wild explanation. I won’t putanything past them right now.

I hope Rachel Richardson feels just a little less isolated, now. Maybe some of those players have reached out to her, hope so.
The way the Duke incident and what happened at Eugene have blown up in the media, I’d expect unimaginable amounts of pressure on any witnesses from last year who might have the urge to speak out.
The public narrative of myth and persecution is so deeply set, if you counter that now, might want to be a voluntary entrant in the federal witness protection program.
Well, the day wasn’t a total loss.
Ok, I’ll ask. What is W****?
Wow. And I thought I took football too seriously. This guy has issues.
That Zoob was fresh off a Dale Carnegie refresher course too.
Ok, who’d they play? Didn’t even pay attention.
edit: looked it up. Notre Dame. One of the few times I’m glad ND won. Even better if it creates salty assed tears in the Zoobs.
WOW! Never came across this one until today. Apparently, my wife is a member of the great and abominable church, and my son studied at one of the great and abominable elementary, middle, high and collegiate schools in the area and the west.
In contrast, I usually try to think of us all as Christians, and/or believers in a common supreme being.
I really don’t take too much of this too seriously, as many/most of the actual flock, don’t look at the world from quite as a non-sensical point of view.
Mostly they’re our neighbors, and mostly they accept us in spite of the fact that we don’t pay dues to the club, and have to drive out of the neighborhood to attend church.
It can be a really weird town to live in sometimes though.
!!!
We don’t even call them that.
FTFO!
Thanks Rocker… In honesty, I think I already presumed/thought that, or something like it.
That sentiment is at least partially related to the interaction that I’ve had with you and your wonderful family ![]()
Not only am I bemused and slightly tickled that this is an actual thing, there’s even a wikipedia page about it.
And kudos to Rocker for the circular reference link that 5 people actually clicked on, thereby getting sent to UFN.
I love this insight & want to thank you sharing.
